Hi I'm Josh Terry

I love movies, food, and funny things and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in utah with great family and friends. I love living in utah i couldnt imagine growing up anywhere else, 4 seasons, mountains, and lots of snow! I love alot of things like music, movies, and camping, but most of all I just like to spend time with all the people I really care about in life. I hope to one day graduate from college and eventually start a family along with the many other goals I have. Im currently serving a two year mission for the church in the louisiana baton rouge mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church just like most of those who grew up in utah. I had the choice to follow the church or to go the other way. For most of my life up until a few years ago, i just decided to be on the middle ground. Not leave the church but also not get super involved in case i didnt want to move forward. I still remember the day when I all of a sudden got the feeling of serving a mission. Because of some great examples from family, and a few good friends I decided to stop sitting on the fence. Theres no middle ground with god. you follow or you dont. that one decision will shape my entire life, and although i still have many improvements i believe im a better person because of that choice. I have a strong testimony of jesus christ. Especially that he was able to take upon him self my pains and afflictions, not just the mistakes ive made. Thats something that has always been close to my heart. I believe with all my heart that god continues to reach out to his children and that the heavens are not closed but are springing open with new revelation every day. Since ive been out here my whole perspective has changed. You see people just walking around living there lives, just going through the motions. Searching for happiness they will never find with out the help of the gospel. Im so greatful to share with these great people in the state of louisiana, the same Gospel that changed me and showed me a better way. Everyone in life is searching for one thing and one thing only - happiness. And im a Mormon because thats what brings me happiness.

How I live my faith

I best live my faith by setting an example. A good example is more powerful than any other influence. I know that i have the power to show others how to come closer to our savior. I also know that it is a sacred responsibility, and i plan on using it with gods trust. Like the prophet alma in the book of mormon, "I have fasted and prayed many days that i might know these things of myself.. and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me" (alma 5:45-46) what better way to use that trust, than to spread my joy with others. And because I know these things are true, I know i am a child of god and i should act as such. I know our savior lives, and i try to live my life by what the apostle paul said, "for i am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ" Romans 1:16

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Josh Terry
Giving Christ like service is how god wants the church to be ran. If we are recieving payment for that service then it is not christlike. No paid clergy keeps members of the church self sufficent and gives them the opportunity to serve the lord with full purpose of heart and complete love of him and his beloved son Jesus Christ. Our savior was not paid for his service to us and god. He was not paid for preaching. Why should we be paid for leading his church? All donations given to the church goes to building his kingdom on earth through Building chapels, printing church material and building holy temples, among many other things, Never to the members. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Josh Terry
No of course not. Jesus Christ and our Father in heaven are first and foremost. The whole gospel of Jesus Christ is centered on the atonement, or sacrifce that he made in our behalf. Joseph Smith was just a prophet who was a tool in his hands for restoring the blessings of his atonement to the earth. We hold jospeh smith in high regard, but we do not worship him. ive never prayed to joseph smith, and i've never gotten down on my knees and woshiped him. And neither does any other member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Josh Terry
Yes we love and Cherish the holy Bible! The bible gives us personal accounts of the saviors ministry among the jewish nation. Some of the most cherished stories that i hold close to my heart are contained in the gospels. The book of mormon is simply an account of the saviors ministry among the ancient americans. They are both witnesses that jesus is the christ, and they are both held in high regard. Being down south in the bible belt, i get that question alot. and the reason why we put a focus on people reading the book of mormon is because the christian world already knows the truth of the bible. Alot of people havent read the book of mormon or even heard about it. so thats why we put such emphasis on reading and praying about it. We believe WITHOUT A DOUBT the bible is holy Scripture, as far as it is translated correctly. We believe the king james is the most correct translation. Those who believe in the bible will gain a testimony of the book of mormon because they teach the same gospel. Show more Show less
