Hi I'm C.J. Eagar

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am almost 27 years old, married to a sweet gal, and I have two beautiful daughters. I go to law school and work at an estate planning firm. In my free time I love to escape to the mountains to hunt, hike, and fish. My dad always taught me that the mountains are where our hearts reside, and I have found that to be true. I love to write music, play guitar, and mow lawns. I understand the last one is odd, but that's just how I was raised. Everyone always warned me not to go to law school because I would devote my life to the law, and not my family. This is the exact reason I am involved in estate planning, because my family is my #1 hobby. I want to spend less time at work, and more time with my wife and kids. I guess you can say that my faith influences all my decisions, including the genre of law I will practice.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Christ. I believe he established and organized a specific path that leads back to his presence. He teaches us in scripture that there is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. In studying the Bible, I have found that God has always used prophets to speak to us. In Amos 3:7 the Lord specifically tells us that "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Many people believe the coming of Christ was the end of prophets on the earth. Many believe that God will not appear anymore until the second coming of Christ to the earth. Yet on the road to Damascus, the Savior appeared to the Apostle Paul to instruct yet another spokes person; another prophet. This event teaches me a very important lesson: The prophecy in Amos is true. The Lord loves us. He will not let us drift. He will send prophets to lead and guide us. These prophets will be unlikely individuals; humble servants, like Paul. Many will scoff at this testimony, but I believe God loves us; enough to guide us. He promised he would send prophets to lead us and guide us, just as he did with many like Noah, Moses, Abraham, and Paul. Just as God has done in the past, he has sent prophets today on the earth to teach us and guide us within the structure of God's one faith and baptism. This is not a testimony declaring all other faiths to be wrong. Rather, it is further testament to all other faiths that focus on Christian values. I hope my testimony allows you to understand that I agree and stand next to your faith, but that there is more knowledge to be learned through a living prophet today. Any time I get a new guitar or guitar amp, my favorite part is when I get to see my friends play the guitar. I like sharing things I love. This is no different with my faith. I do not share to compare. I simply want people to "play my new guitar". I want anyone to enjoy what has blessed my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. My faith is not a church, it is a how I live. Church simply is a vehicle to advance my faith in Christ. Subscribing to a religion on the sole basis of weekly church attendance alone (for the social aspect) is not faith at all. Rather, it is like professing a religious faith in facebook or twitter. We live our faith daily by volunteering in the community, teaching lessons on Sunday with no financial compensation, helping neighbors, doing little things when nobody else is looking, to help further the Christian values that most of us in the community share.
