Hi I'm Lori

I'm a Montessori teacher and a mother. I love to work hard and play hard! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of nine children and I've moved 20+ times with my family. I was born in Las Vegas, NV but spent most my life between AZ and AL. I was married to my wonderful husband in 2008 and in 2011 we welcomed a beautiful daughter into our home. I've worked as a Montessori teacher for about 3 years now and I loved it; the peaceful teaching philosphy of Maria Montessori is just amazing! I now stay at home with my little girl and have fun teaching her what I know.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member my whole life. I've always hated to live life through the "hard-knocks" way and I've done my best to avoid it and for the longest time thats how I lived my spiritual life too. It wasn't until my younger sister Emily was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001 that I unraveled. My life and famliy was never the same after she got sick. It became hard to understand why this had to happen to her and my faith in anything good was fading. I was sad and tireded all the time, at one point I neared dispair. At that moment I felt a wake up call in my heart - I remembered the teachings my parents had taught us of eternal families and following the gospel of Christ. I realized that there really was no need to dispair, that I could put my trust and faith in Christ and He could carry the burden of my sad heart. My sister fought her cancer for 3 more years and she died in our mothers arms. Our family and I know that through Jesus Christ and through our faithfullness and obedience to the commandments one day we will see my sweet sister again!

How I live my faith

I find it funny that my work outside the church imitates the work I do in it :) I teach the Sunbeam Sunday school class (4 year olds, same age group I worked with as a Montessori teacher). I've always loved to see children explore and learn and I want to give them the oppertunity that I had to learn and ask questions about the gospel and Jesus Christ. I also try and live the life a follower of Christ should live - help the sick and lonely, improve myself through studing the scriptures and praying. I'm not perfect but as the scriptures say in Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
