Hi I'm Christy

I'm a new mom for the third time. I am a goal setter, a knowledge seeker, and a gourmet food connoisseur. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three beautiful children, two boys and a girl, all under the age of five. The many activities of being a mother and wife fill my days with chaos and joy. I enjoy the challenge of finding balance between family, personal pursuits, and spiritual learning and growth. I love to cook and especially enjoy trying recipes that promise great flavor as well as beautiful presentation. Dancing is my favorite form of movement with an emphasis on latin flare which I credit to my Brazilian heritage. I relish a good book and prefer the classics because of the beauty of language and vocabulary. I enjoy any type of travel and wish to do it more as cultures, cuisines and countries fascinate me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because time and time again I have had the Holy Spirit testify to me that it is the true doctrine and gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that Joseph Smith was chosen as the prophet in this dispensation of time to reestablish Christ's church as it existed when Christ originially established it during his ministry. I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ, not to replace the Bible but as a companion to it. I believe that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ have a personal relationship with each of us and that revelation and inspiration are available to each of us. I believe that we have a living prophet today just as scriptures describe in ancient times. I believe that our prophet recieves revelation from God for all His children. I am grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Book of Mormon, modern-day prophets, and modern-day revelation because they all testify and teach of Jesus Christ the Savior of the world. Knowing these things bring great JOY, great PEACE, and great HOPE to my life. In context of the gospel my life has new meaning and direction. I know that I am a child of God with glorious potential and that my Heavenly Father has a plan for His children. We all lived with Heavenly Father as spirit children before we came to earth. Heavenly Father set forth a plan for His children to recieve a physical body and exercise the divine gift of agency in this mortal experience in order to be tested in our faithfulness and progress. Central to this plan of HAPPINESS is the role of a Savior who overcame death that we might live again and sin that we might return to our Heavenly Father's presence and glory. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches me how to draw closer to my Savior, to learn of him, follow him and lay hold upon the blessing of repentance and joy that he has afforded us. Through the grace of the Savior Jesus Christ all my dreams my come true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live a righteous life. I strive to live the ten commandments and apply the teachings of scriptures and prophets to my everyday life. The Savior lived a life of service and so I know I must serve his children in order to be his servant. I try to do this by serving my family, church members and community. I serve my family by trying to create a home environment where my children can learn of Christ and live the principles of the gospel. I strive to create a marriage centered in love, service, and sacrifice. I strive to be a good sister, daughter and in-law. I currently serve in the church working with youth ages 12-18. It is a joy to teach them of our Heavenly Father's plan of Happiness, our Savior's sacrifice and how this knowledge can change our lives through daily application of its priciples. We enjoy Sunday lessons, youth planning sessions, weekly activities, sports, camp, dances and many other activities that help us grow physically, spiritually and emotionally. We enjoy enhancing all aspects of our lives. I serve in the community by volunteering at the local school every week and reading to the children at lest monthly. I also like to be involved in arranging service projects for our youth to become involved and help our local community.
