Hi I'm Tanner

I grew up all over the western states. I am an avid student and a fan of the enjoyable. I can do hard things. I am a mormon.

About Me

Hobbies are fun. I enjoy trying photography and reading has always been a default past-time. Getting knowledge is the most satisfying way to pass my time, I find. I graduated high school and was attending university before I embarked on my mission to Montréal, Québec. I`ve been a missionary for a little over a year now, and I love every minute of it. Helping people find faith in our savior is always rewarding. Before my mission I played racquetball a lot, but was never really good at it. I also practiced journalism and broadcast with local newspapers and high school programs. I`ll be returning to University after my mission to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Why I am a Mormon

I`m a Mormon because I've always been a Mormon. My parents raised me in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I have always believed in it, and my life has been blessed because of it. My mother and father have been outstanding examples of Christians, and they taught me how to follow Christ. Now I follow Christ because I choose to, because a Mormon Me is the best version of Me I could be. Through the power of prayer I communicate with my Father in Heaven and I find answers to difficult situations and peace in times of trouble. I am rendered resolute in my faith and it means the world to me. My testimony as a disciple of Jesus Christ IS my identity. I believe the doctrine with all my heart, and that will never change. The atonement of Jesus Christ is real.

How I live my faith

I've always tried to live my faith by doing my part. Be it spiritual leaders or neighbors in need, or even my Heavenly Father who asks of me, I try my best to do what is asked of me. Right now I am responding to the call of the Prophet Thomas S. Monson to serve a full time mission, and when I continue I will receive other opportunities to participate in the community and build others around me. But when it comes to basic, day by day living my faith, I do that through scripture study and trying to be a better me every day.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Tanner
We do proxy baptisms in temples because we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to take part in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And as made clear in Scripture, the only way to fully access the Atonement of Jesus Christ is through baptism and reception of the Holy Ghost by someone holding the proper authority to do so. There are a lot of people in the world past, and present who have not been baptized, and very many who have been baptized by someone not holding the proper authority from God. We perform proxy baptisms for people who never had the opportunity to be baptized in this life. In the next, they will choose to accept or deny the ordinance that was done for them, but it needs to be done here, by us. Everyone gets a chance. Show more Show less
