Hi I'm Brysen

I'm a an Artist, an Eagle Scout, and a Mormon by birth, Mormon by choice

About Me

I am in a family of five with an older sister and a younger brother, and I have three half brothers and two half sisters much older than me. I am a straight up artist and love drawing, both from observation but also from whatever comes from my imagination. I have done a year of college majoring in art and can`t wait to keep going at it! I am a big optimist. I love laughing and helping others laugh too.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I was raised that way. But as I grew older, I noticed people didn`t live the same way my family and I did. I was curious as to how other people operated in their lives and I found that some were living in very sad situations, and could see how the actions of my parents, and my actions in following my parents, protected me from living through sad situations like those of my peers. As a member of the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we have a bigger perspective on things. Its so easy to get caught up in day to day tasks in our busy lives, but something that has helped me is the gospel principle of the Plan of Salvation, the plan that God has for us. It means to me that I am not just here on Earth by happen stance, but for a purpose. Everyone on earth has a purpose. We came from Our God`s presence with a purpose to come to earth, and after we die we will leave this Earth with a purpose. Birth is not the beginning and death is not the end. So us being on Earth is only a part of this grand plan. But while we are here, things can get tough as we all know. And something I strongly believe in is the power of prayer. Its not something we use only when we are having a bad day or when we need help, but should be used every day. Prayer is not something memorized, but is a conversation with our Heavenly Father. He created us, He loves us, so why wouldn`t He want to hear from us and why wouldn`t we want to talk to Him? Through sincere prayer, I have been able to communicate with my Father and let Him know how I feel, what I am truly thankful for, and what I feel I can`t live without, being His help. Once we ask, He will answer. For me an answer from God has never been angels or lights, but comfort, relief, peace, and renewed energy. These things may not have been big signs, visible by all, but quiet reminders only apparent to myself, that God loves me and cares about my life, even the little things. Its by these things that I know God is there.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example. Its my every day actions that testify in what I believe in. For me, to show that I believe in Christ and follow Him, doesn`t mean I only talk about Him, but act in a way that would please him. Its so easy for people to say they believe in something, but act in a totally different way, contrary to what they said. So actions truly speak louder than words. Whether it be a smile or some small action of kindness, I believe that makes all the difference. When I was younger, I was known as the `peace maker`, because I would go out of my way to help others be happy and feel loved. And still today, that is something I am working on. Because this is something I strongly believe in, I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, to use my actions to tell people that I love them, and so does the Lord. To me, that is something that we can never hear enough of.
