Hi I'm Diane

I'm a wife of one, mother of 6 and grandmother of 9. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mom and a grandmother. I'm a quilter. I like quilts because they stay "done". I'm one of five children and I love my siblings. I was born to great parents.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18 years old I taught a Sunday School class to several 10 year old girls. One week the lesson was based on the scripture Matthew 16:18. It is the Savior speaking and he says that "thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church..." I pondered that all week and finally decided that I couldn't teach my girls that lesson because if the rock in that verse was Peter, then we would have the church of Peter. I thought that the rock had to be something else. That Sunday I didn't teach that lesson, because I loved my girls. Instead we talked about school and clothes and boys or whatever the girls wanted to talk about. Time went on, I went away to school, married my husband (who was a Mormon), and he had orders to Vietnam shortly after we were married. While on leave from the Army, before he left for Vietnam, we toured Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Our tour guide that day was Cal Cook. We talked and he showed us around and explained paintings, statues, and the temple. In the Visitors Center I asked our guide about the scripture in Matthew. He knew exactly what I was talking about and said that the rock in that verse is revelation. I knew he was right. Later I met with the missionaries and heard the discussions and was baptized.

How I live my faith

Sometimes I have heard people say that the commandments keep us from having fun. My experience is that keeping the commandments protects us from sorrow and suffering. Through the atonement the Savior has provided a path to return to Him. I serve the Lord by serving my family and others. I think the Boy Scouts help our young men to become good husbands and fathers. I am involved with our troop as a parent.
