Hi I'm Dee

I love road trips, family time, cooking, taking snapshots, I hope to make a difference in the world & I'm a Mormon

About Me

I believe that there is a lot of power in the written word and I love to write. The problem is that sometimes I spend so much time thinking about what I'm going to write that I run out of time to write. So I'm really going to try to get as much down on here as possible as quickly as possible. So to answer the blurb "About Me" simply I would probably say that I'm a college graduate, I love to travel, I work with kids with disabilities, I love my family and friends- and I know that they have truly influenced me for the better. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me to find a purpose for my life. I have discovered that although it's fun to do things and go places, life is better when you can leave an impact on those around you through serving and loving them. I have truly been blessed with an amazing family who loves me unconditionally and I try to share that love with everyone I met.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to the LDS church, but it wasn't until I was a teenager and especially when I moved out and went to college that I really came to gain a testimony of our Heavenly Father's Plan for me. I had always believed that the church was true because I felt good and I just always wanted to do good, but it was when I was older and really had to make the decision to go to church and to read my scriptures and to make all of those important life determining decisions that I really had to KNOW if what I had believed was really what I wanted to LIVE. I think a defining moment was when I took a summer job and was introduced to some of our Heavenly Father's most precious children. Many of them couldn't walk, feed themselves or even communicate, I really began to wonder why God would send a child into the world that way. As I developed a relationship with these precious children I began to realize how the most important part of our Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation is that we come to earth to gain a body and have this earthly experience. These children, as difficult as life was for them, truly knew how to appreciate life. They smiled constantly & they brought joy to the hearts of everyone they met. I began to realize that there is a lot more to life than waking up each day, going to work or school, eating or sleeping. Although many of these children will never experience life in a typical fashion, I realized that there was a lot that each of them could share with the world. Our lives are about the choices that we make, decisions both good and bad, and how we learn from them. As difficult as this life can be I know that each of us will be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father and receive eternal blessings so long as we strive to do what's right. I am so grateful that I have the ability to repent of my weaknesses & receive complete forgive through my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try to live a Christian life. I go to church, I study scriptures, and I pray to know how I can change my life to become a better follower of Christ. It's easy to get caught in a the exciting things that life has to offer, however I know that I am happiest when I try to be involved in the lives of the people I love and care about and I try to live an active life. I am currently single and I attend a congregation of our church that is specifically for singles in their late twenties to early thirties. I try to be involved with activities there as well as activities in my community. I am currently volunteering with a Special Olympics group. My job keeps me busy, but it also helps me to see God's hand in my life. I work with individuals with special needs and it's wonderful to have the opportunity to try to bless their lives and in return see how they have blessed my own.
