Hi I'm Jordan

I'm a student at BYU-Provo. I play lacrosse. I'm a wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at BYU-Provo, studying Physical Education Teaching and minoring in Family Life. I am married to a wonderful man who I consider my best friend. I love to travel, read, and play sports. My favorite sport is lacrosse. I grew up in Utah, but my family currently lives in Virginia. I have grown up in a predominantly Mormon area as well as an area where I was one of six Mormons in my school. I've been to 7 different countries and would love to travel to as many more as possible. My parents are divorced. I am the oldest of 4 children. My siblings are some of my best friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is the greatest source of happiness that I have in my life. I rely very much on my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that God has a plan for me individually and I know that He looks out for me. By following His plan and what He teaches through the living prophets I know that I will return to live with Him some day. This is my ultimate goal and what motivates me in my decisions daily. I'm grateful for the knowledge I have that I can live with my family after this life, that we will not be separated once we die. I believe in the prophet Joseph Smith and that he restored the gospel to the earth so that I can live it today. I also believe that he translated the Book of Mormon through inspiration given from the Lord. By reading this book everyday I gain inspiration and strength from the counsel given in its pages. I know without a shadow of a doubt that my Savior and my Heavenly Father know me individually and care about what happens to me. They want the best for me and will help me become the best me I can be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be an example to those around me. I am open to any questions that anyone has about experiences I have gone through and about my beliefs. I try to let people around me know how proud I am to be a Mormon and that they can approach me and ask me any questions about my religion. On a daily basis I try to be more Christlike, I think this is the best way that I can live my faith. It is through small and simple acts that this can be done, including acknowledging and being grateful for the tender mercies the Lord grants me every day. I also try to live my faith by following the commandments of God. This includes reading my scriptures, praying to my Father in Heaven, attending church meetings, going to the temple regularly, etc. I try to gain access to other teachings from our living prophet and apostles regularly as well. I think that this is something that helps me see examples of faithful disciples in more modern settings, and provides me guidance that is meant specifically for me. This has provided me with more strength than I probably am able to recognize.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

I have learned that my soul is my body and my spirit together. Being a PE Teaching major, as well as a PE teacher now I have learned a whole lot about the human body. The more I learn, the more I am awe-struck and am grateful for gift that Heavenly Father has given each of us by allowing us to come to earth with these bodies. That is exactly what they are: gifts. Because of this, we need to take care of them. We need to treat them with the same respect we would as a temple. They house our spirits and make up half of our souls. By keeping our bodies clean from drugs, alcohol, unhealthy foods, and by exercising we show our gratitude to the Lord for this incredible gift He has given us. By keeping our bodies clean, we also allow our spirit to be more in-tune to the guidance from the Holy Ghost - thus benefitting our souls overall. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Jesus Christ is the ultimate example we can look to for guidance in our lives in every aspect. This includes in our relationships. Because He was perfect, He achieved what no one else has yet to on this earth. He demonstrated perfect love. The closer we can get to Him, the more like Him we will become and the more able we will be to show our own love for those around us and to show His love for those around us. The Savior knows all of our individual struggles, victories, feelings, and emotions. He experienced them all. By turning to Him in our relationships, He can help us work through the hard times and can share with us in the good times, making every situation better. This is true for individuals as well as for couples. Jesus Christ can bring in light and joy into a relationship that no one else can. Show more Show less
