Hi I'm James.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a wonderful woman, and we have 3 children. I'm a mechanical engineer who wishes he was a composer. I love to ride my bicycle, run, hike and camp, and write music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon. My parents taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ from my earliest years - helped me develop good habits and then trusted me to make my own decisions. As a teenager, I was blessed with good friends who invited me to do good, hard things - we spent a lot of time camping and hiking - and never invited me to do bad things. In this environment, I had a chance to learn more about myself and who I wanted to be. In hindsight, two important things were happening: 1- my confidence was growing, and 2- I knew that life could be great/fulfilling/happy by living the kind of pure life that Jesus taught us to live. Since that time, I've continued to read the scriptures (e.g., the Bible, the Book of Mormon), and I feel something special when I read them. I try hard to live the teachings of Jesus - they feel right. The Holy Ghost has consistently confirmed to me that I was sent here to Earth by a loving Heavenly Father, who wants me to learn and to serve others. I'm a Mormon because everything that I learn from this church leads me closer to my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I serve as an advisor to the 16-18 year old young men in our ward/congregation. It's been great to get to know them better, see the good decisions they're making, and share my own feelings about the importance of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know from experience the power of a good example at that age. I read the scriptures daily. And I remind myself often that Jesus is the focus my faith. Without Him and his sacrifice for me, I would have nothing of value. I give priority on Sunday's to spiritual things, and always attend my church meetings/services. Prayer is an important part of my everyday life. I find strength to finish hard things by praying - whether it's at work or out running. I try to follow promptings / feelings from the Holy Ghost. My wife and I work to make our home a peaceful, loving place - a place worthy to raise God's children. We have received guidance that we believe has helped our family. For example, we felt prompted to get rid of our T.V.. We've found that we don't miss it. Instead, we spend more timing playing games with the children in the evening. In general, I'm try to do what Jesus teaches us to do.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Pretty simple: Mormon's believe in everything that has been given to us (His children here on Earth) by the Lord, either directly or thru His prophets. Show more Show less
