Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a surgical technician. I'm a mom, a wife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the country in rural Arizona. I grew up riding horses with my father and growing up in the gospel through the faith of my mother. I have been a stay at home mom for twenty-one years and absolutely loved it. I have four children, four step-children, and eight grandchildren. I recently went to school and graduated from a ten month surgical technician program. I am now employed at a surgery center. I work part time at the surgery center and part time with my husband at his upholstery shop. My husband and I have been married eleven years. I love being married to my best friend. I love traveling with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a seventh generation Arizonan Mormon. I have always had a strong testimony of Heavenly Father. My parents divorced when I was twelve years old. I missed having my dad near me and was lonely for his love. I would pray at a very young age for comfort and felt Heavenly Father's presence so strong in my prayers. I would feel His arms wrap around me. Later, after I had become a mom, I learned about the atonement of Jesus Christ. I learned that he atoned for my sins and died on the cross to bear my burdens as well. I gained a testimony of Jesus Christ in a turning point in my life. I went on a quest to find my natural father. There was great trial and fear in not knowing if my natural father would accept me. A good friend taught me that I could pray that Jesus Christ would take my fears and soften the heart of my natural father. I did pray. My prayers were answered. My fears were quieted and my natural father's heart was softened. He never did accept me, but I came to fully accept Christ. I can never deny my knowledge that God the Father and Jesus Christ live and love me. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that through him the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored on the earth.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love going to church each Sunday. I work with the 18 month to three year old children in the nursery. I think it is so great to be able to teach them that Jesus provided for them so many blessings and that he loves them. I am always amazed to see them immediately recognize Jesus Christ when I show them a picture of him. I am grateful to have sisters in the gospel and the great support they are to me. My daughter and I took on her service project over the summer. She is ten years old. She decided that she wanted to serve Christ by serving others this summer. She chose to organize children into a sewing group. She taught them all to sew blankets for infants. She solicited fabric from church members and family members. She met with her group each Tuesday of every week this last summer. She was able to donate 32 blankets to the Child Crisis Center in Mesa, Arizona. She was given the opportunity to go to the Child Crisis Center to personally give the blankets to the staff. They were so thrilled at the excellent workmanship and were amazed at her age. I am proud to be a mother in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so honored to be able to help my children on their paths toward adulthood and help them know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I love knowing that I am a daughter of God and that He knows and loves me.
