Hi I'm Rus.

I am a middle school art teacher and wrestling coach. I converted to the Church when I was 61 years old. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father, and grand-father. I have attended many colleges including Lorain County Community College, Murray State University, University of Montevallo, UAB, and the University of Alabama. I have been an educator for 40 plus years. I have taught art in Missouri and Alabama and and was also a high school administrator in Alabama. I retired after 28 years in Alabama and came to Georgia to teach. I am presently teaching art to middle school students in north Georgia. I am also a wrestling coach and have coached football, soccer, tennis and golf. I have been active in the Boy Scouts, holding many positions at the local level in non-LDS units and LDS units. I have been a Unit Commissioner at the district level and Order of the Arrow Lodge Advisor at the council level. My main hobby is beading and building Native American regalia and Native American dancing. I am a member of a gourd dancing society and attend local and national pow wows. I also enjoy a good round of golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been searching for the truth. When my wife and I were dating we discussed our core beliefs. She told me I sounded like a Mormon. Intrigued, I called the Missionaries and started taking the discussions but stopped them. I told them I wanted to know the deep doctrine of the Church. I already had a testimony that Jesus Christ was my savior. I told them I would read the Book of Mormon, develop questions and have them come and answer them. Through reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and having my questions answered by the Missionaries and members who came to help them with the discussions, i developed an even stronger Testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon as another testament of our Savior, the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints as the restored church of our Redeemer, present day revelations, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and a Prophet on the earth today. I have a strong testimony of the Temple and Temple work. I became a member of the Church when I was 61 years old. I have finally found the TRUTH! I am a MORMON!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by renewing my Covenants with the Lord at each Sacrament Meeting. Every effort is made to attend all Sunday meetings and other meetings called during the week. I pray often, and go to the Temple at least once a month. I have had callings to teach the youth and to help with the Boy Scout Program within the Church. Each calling I have had has taught me more about the Gospel.. Monthly Home Teaching is an activity I look forward to do. I enjoy reading and studying the Scriptures daily.
