Hi I'm Kim

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New York and my husband grew up in Arizona. We met and married in college. I graduated in Geography and I love maps! After graduation we moved to Indiana to try our hand at real estate investing, while we are still young and have the energy to do it. Now I am the stay-at-home mom of one very energetic little boy. I don’t really need to go to the gym after chasing him around all day but I like to get a sitter and go once a week just for some time to myself. I ran a marathon once but haven't liked running since! So, I mostly ride a bike. Some days with a toddler are very frustrating but other days are oh so rewarding! I am not a perfect housekeeper but I try to make our home a happy place so my son and husband will know and feel how much I love them.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in elementary school I was afraid of the dark and I didn’t like to be alone. I would fall asleep with the hall light on and soft music playing. I had a dream one night that after I died I just sat in a dark room all by myself doing nothing for eternity. I thought there had to be more to life than that. I went and woke up my mom and she taught me about God’s plan of salvation. I felt peace and knew that it was true. I believe there is a God in Heaven who loves me so much that he sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins and overcome death. Because I have faith in Him, I have hope. I want to serve Him and be like Him. I believe God is interested in the life of each person that has ever lived on this earth. In various times He has called prophets to speak for Him and reveal His word to guide us. We have some of those teachings in the Bible and Book of Mormon. We have a prophet today, Thomas Monson. He encourages us to keep the commandments and repent. I know if I do those things I can have eternal peace and joy. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday so I can hear the good word, partake of the sacrament, remember my Savior, and serve others - I play the piano for the primary children during their singing time. During the week I try to take to heart Paul’s counsel to Timothy: “Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12) and every day I pray to have more patience, love and kindness. My husband spends several extra hours on some weeknights helping with the youth programs and meeting with members to fill their temporal and/or spiritual needs. I often wish he could be home, but I know he is serving God and that makes me happy to support him.
