Hi I'm Dale

I'm a Mormon. I joined the church in 1971 a year after I came back from serving in Viet Nam.

About Me

I served 22 years in the Military, full time and part time. I was employed as a Fleet Service Supervisor for a University for 32 years and have a side job as a local Police Officer for the last 24 years. I am married and have 5 married children and a wonderful wife that has put with me for 38 years. I love my Country and I have always felt that it has been a privialge and responsibility to serve my country in meaningful ways to make it a better place for all of us. I enjoy photograhpy, reading and learning about anything that will make our nation and the world a better place to live. We are the grandparents to 14 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

When I returned from Viet Nam I was abit lost. My family religon was Presbyterian but I felt there were alot of questions there were no answers for, such as why are we here? Why is there hate and anger in the world? Is there more than one planet with people on it, if so why? What is the real purpose we are here and what happens to us when we die? is that the end of us? I had a blind date one night and the girl I was out with didn't want a drink of beer and said she was a Mormon and planned to be married in the Temple for time and all eternity. I had no idea what she was taling about and all I new of Mormons was that at one time they practiced Poligamy and that they had a big red tabernacle in Utah. With time and the fact she went to college and I had two years left in the military her mother invited me over for dinner and gave me a book of Mormon to read. I spent alot of time at Missle sites and so had lots of time to read. As I read the book of Mormon my thoughts were how could a kid 18 years old and for the most part illiterate write a book like this. How could everything in it make so much sense. Why did I feel good about what was taught in it. And most of all why were people in general so opposed to this book and Joseph Smith. After praying about the book and what it was saying I belived it was true. I had answered so many questions about this life and why we are here and were we have the opertunity to go, why there is trials, struggles and heart aches. It is to strengthen us, and for me in increase my testimony that Jesus is the Christ and that I am a Christian.

How I live my faith

I currently am the employment specialist in our local church. With the current economic situation in the country and here in Idaho it is hard for people to keep or improve their employement situation. The church puts alot of emphasis on providing for our families and taking care of those less fortunet than ourselves. Employment is just one phase of what the church is trying to help members with. The welfare program as a whole is world wide and does not take into consideration what religon, nationality or color a person or community is, if they need help the Church Welfare program helps all.
