Hi I'm Kalenn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite roles in life are wife (of 33 years to my high school sweetheart), mother (to 3 amazing girls and 1 awesome son), and grandmother (to 2 adorable little boys). My family is my greatest joy! I love doing things with and for them, and enjoyed tremendously the 27 years I spent at home raising them! Now one is grown with children of her own, one is starting a career, one is serving as a missionary for our church and one is in college. It is so fulfilling to me to see them living good and productive lives. I have a degree in Elementary Education and taught for 1 year before having my children. Five years ago I returned to work and am now an assistant Kindergarten teacher. Spending my days with five and six year old children keeps me laughing, learning, busy and hopefully... keeps me young! I grew up in a family that loved to travel... and that is something that has carried over to my own family. We have visited almost every state in the country, and love those adventures! Creativity also brings me much joy... decorating, quilting, knitting, gardening, writing. I also play the piano and my husband and I want to learn to play the guitar in our "empty nesting" years. Love of music, movies, theatre (especially musical theatre), the outdoors and reading, round out who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member my whole life. I come from a pioneer heritage of early members of the church who traveled in handcart companies, across the country, in order to pursue religious freedom. I, however, had to find my own testimony and conversion to the church. I remember precisely the day this began to occur when I was 16 years old. It was an Easter Sunday in church and the choir was singing "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." I had an overwhelming witness of the mission of Jesus Christ and his love for me. This in turn led to my belief in all things I had been taught thus far in my young life as I prayed for answers. My understanding and testimony continues to grow each and every week as I attend church, study scriptures, engage in prayer, attend the temple, serve others and strive to live righteously. I love that our church is something we "DO" on a daily basis...not just a "PLACE WE GO." It is a way of life for us, and one that I am so happy in living! I feel enriched, blessed, valued and fulfilled as a Mormon woman.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my church throughout the years. I have been the president of the children's organization, president of the teenage girls organization, and as a counselor to the president many times in the womens organization. I have gone to week long camps with the teenage girls, planned monthly enrichment meetings for the women, planned parties big and small for the entire congregation, headed up community service and humanitarian projects, etc. We are definitely a church involved in serving others. We serve out of love, a desire to help the work go forward, and by looking at Christ as our example.
