Hi I'm Brad

I'm a mechanical engineer, I love cars and snowboarding, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a pretty laid-back kind of guy. I grew up in Northern California, moved to Utah to go to school, and now live in the Midwest with my wife and our dog. I'm an engineer, and I love working with my hands and designing new things. I love working on cars, listening to music, and enjoying the outdoors. I especially love hiking and snowboarding. But most of all, I love spending time with the people that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town in the mountains of Northern California. For as long as I can remember, I have loved spending time outside. It didn't matter if it was mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, camping, snowshoeing, or something completely different. If it was outside, I loved it. This didn't change as I moved to Utah to go to college, or as I moved to Mexico for two years to be a missionary. I am still amazed at how beautiful all of the Lord's creations are. No matter where I go, it seems that I can always find something beautiful in nature. Even though it can be very unpredictable and dangerous at times, I know that the Lord is always watching over us. A few months after I moved to Mexico a hurricane hit the area. Although I didn't yet completely understand the language, I could understand the terror that the people felt as their homes were swept away by the flooding rivers. Right before the last bridge was over-flooded, the city gathered at the center to load into the back of trailers to be moved to safety. The trailer that I boarded was dark and full of terrified families, who didn't know if they would ever see their homes again. We all sat there waiting for the trailer to move as children and adults alike cried for their loved ones. In the middle of the darkness, we all heard an older sister start to sing the song "I am a child of God." Almost immediately the fear turned to hope as everybody in the trailer listened to this lady express her faith through this song. Eventually others joined in the singing until everybody on the trailer had forgotten their worries and focused on the love our Heavenly Father has for each of his children. The words of the song and the sincerity of the people invited the Spirit to comfort us in the back of that trailer. I know that Heavenly Father was watching out for us on that dark night. I know that He loves us and comforted us in our time of need, and I cannot deny what I felt during that hurricane.

How I live my faith

More than anything, I think I live my faith through service. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, gave his life in service to us. The best way that I can feel close to Him is following that example. As a result, I have been blessed by the opportunity to serve in many ways. I served a mission in Mexico for two years, preaching His gospel, and serving those that needed help, both physically and spiritually. In that time, I grew closer to my Heavenly Father than at any other time in my life. It was amazing how the more time I spent focused on others, the greater my own faith in Jesus Christ grew. I know that he blesses those that serve His children.
