Hi I'm Lee

I am a 6'7" giant; so yes, I play basketball. More importantly, I am fiercely Canadian! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, usually the first thing people will ask me about is my height. Measuring in at 6'7" I definitely get a few stares and even some audible "oooh's" and "aaah's". At times, I feel more like a walking tourist attraction than anything: people take pictures with me; I give out autographs on request as well; it's awesome! Question #2 is ALWAYS, "Do you play basketball?" So I'll save you the time and just answer that right away. Well, Of Course! How could I not?!? I play basketball, along with volleyball too. But that's not all height is good for, right? I specialize in dusting ceiling fans, stealing the last cookie out of the cookie jar, and changing the batteries in the smoke detector! Yep, I'm Buddy the Elf of the North Pole. Still, I likewise enjoy playing the piano, swimming, reading, and being a nerdy person in general. I took a year of college before I went on my mission. I started studying physics (really, extremely intense!!!), but I've switched to statistics. I guess I just really like numbers... like a lot. Like, I'm one of those really weird people who likes calculus and mathematics. Some people, eh? The other thing you should know about me is I absolutely LOVE Canada. This is my country and it is beautiful! The people are awesome, the culture is fascinating, and I'm a part of it. This is truly my home and native land!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. So, many people assume, “You’re just a member because you’re parents are.” That assumption is absolutely correct; I agree! Personally, I am so grateful I was raised within the safety of a home that had Mormon values and beliefs; otherwise, I would have been dreadfully lost. Many people find pleasure in the race for material possessions; others seek to distract themselves from the emptiness inside with drugs, alcohol, or other addictive behavior. Whatever the case may be, everyone everywhere is searching for happiness. Physically, mentally, and spiritually we all just want to be happy. In today’s world it's so easy to become distracted by all these semblances of happiness, but never find the true source—God. Living the principles and ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the way to happiness. Heavenly Father, an infinitely powerful being who loves us, understands all that we are to go through in this life and He knows how to find lasting happiness. Like any loving parent, He wants the best for his children, and that is the gospel. As I have lived the gospel, I have felt God's influence in my life and His joy in my personal happiness. Likewise, when I have strayed from the path, I can feel the His sorrow and disappointment as He knows where my choices will lead. I’m grateful that I grew up knowing Him, understanding the manner in which He would have me conduct my life, and knowing His gospel. I love Him!

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith by serving a mission. Essentially, for 2 years missionaries volunteer to go and serve as teachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ to whichever country they are assigned. They are not paid, but in fact pay to do it. I have been called to serve in the Toronto, Canada Mission speaking Spanish. How awesome is that: I get to stay in my country, the best country in the world, I get to learn to speak Spanish, and most importantly I get to help people change their lives for the better. I get to help people come unto Christ. So that would be how I live my faith as of right now. I have dedicated the next 2 years, 24/7, to help others to find the same joy and peace that I have found. And let me tell you, I am loving it!
