Hi I'm Matt

I love the Utah mountains. I play the trumpet in everything from jazz to classical. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

God provides many ways for us to feel close to Him. Nature, in my opinion, is one of the greatest ways to feel that connection. I take great pleasure in enjoying God's creations--the mountains, trees, rivers, lakes, etc. I hike, garden, and spend as much time outside as possible. I also find my way to God and happiness by experiencing music. Playing the trumpet is a way of praising God, whether it be in marching band, jazz, boroque, pops, solo, or classical settings. However, classical music really strikes home to me. I've played in a youth symphony for five years. I don't know if I'm any good, but I do know that I enjoy it with all my heart. I love expressing myself in a unifying, uplifting manner which classical music provides. I currently am a full time missionary in the New York Utica Mission. It is the happiest work I've ever been involved with and I never have felt more blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. That has given me the chance to learn from the beginning the truths that so many people spend years trying to find. I grew up knowing that I'm a child of God, that I have divine potential, and that my family can live together forever. Now, I'm not saying life hasn't been hard. When I was six, my parents divorced. Since then, I've had to choose how I will spend time with each parent. I have two homes, two families, and not enough time to spend with both of them! I can't always make one happy without potentially offending the other. Yes, this has created strain on my soul. However, my family has rebuilt itself and it is now healthy and thriving. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me find joy in this situation. Because of these struggles, I come out stronger. Yet, I realize I could really have no lasting improvement without Heavenly help. Jesus Christ knows me perfectly. He's the only one that I can COMPLETELY trust to help resolve my problems. He's the ultimate source of joy. He's my Comforter, my Advocate, my Brother. I know that only by relying on Jesus can I receive joy in this world and eternal life in the world to come.

How I live my faith

I am, at this time, a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For two years, I have dedicated my life--full time--to invite others to come unto Christ by accepting the restored gospel through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. That is my purpose as a missionary of this Church. I spend my days studying, living, and preaching the word of God. I give service, attend Church, and meet new people. There is a great joy that comes from sharing the happy message of the restored church. It is incredible to see people change as they accept truth and receive answers from God. It is a joy to see people come unto Christ, and receive the benefits of the great sacrifice made by our Savior.
