Hi I'm Erica

I'm a musician. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As of right now I'm attending community college to receive an associates degree in music. After I have achieved that my plan is to head to a university and enroll in their Music Therapy program. I have been blessed with a few talents and I strive to expand them so I can better glorify my Heavenly Father. I am in the process of preparing to serve a full-time mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I cannot wait to serve my Lord and fellow brothers and sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because there is so much joy that comes from this gospel. I was born in to an LDS family and so since infancy I have been involved in the church. But that doesn't mean I have always been as strong as I am today. In high school I had a rough time surrounding myself with good friends. Unfortunately. it took me some time to remember that I have a loving Heavenly Father who has been and always will be there for me. I read in The Doctrine and Covenants 136:29, "If thou art sorrowful, call on the Lord my God with Supplication, that your soul my be joyful." Reading this scripture gave light to my eyes. I suddenly remembered who I was and where I want to be. As I looked around at my nonexistent friends and bad grades I decided to pray for help. How else was I to lift myself out of this hole I have dug? At first I was hesitant, the shame I had felt for forgetting was eating away at me. But I knew where that guilt was coming from, surely not for someone who loved me and was waiting for me with open arms. I knew Satan wanted to keep me down and miserable with him, that knowledge gave me the courage to kneel. The prayer I cried was painstaking, and one I will never forget. That time physically on my knees pulled me up spiritually from my knees. People on earth will disagree with me and hurt me, but I am able to beat them because I know I have a loving Heavenly Father and Savior. I am a Mormon because I would rather be eternally happy than be here without a purpose.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church weekly and involving myself in service projects. I love to serve. Although there may not be a certain project that is organized I look for small ways to assist others. Whether it is by holding a door open for someone or writing a little note to someone who might be in need, I am happy to do anything. I hold a few callings in my Young Single Adult Ward as the Ward Organist, Ward Choir Pianist, and as a member of The Fellowship Committee. All three of these callings have help me become closer to my Heavenly Father and closer to the young single adults in my ward. As difficult as they may be at times, I know I was asked to fulfill these callings to help me, and to help me help others. The relationships we make through service are very special ones. You see a person through the eyes of Christ when you serve with them. I am grateful that I have an able body to serve those around me, no matter who they are. I live my faith through service.
