Hi I'm Destin

I'm a husband. I'm a father of four children. I love Arizona skies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors, hiking, running, basketball, wrestling with the kids. Just in the last couple of years I decided to pick up the guitar--fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family with strong roots in this church, and everything I learned felt good to me. When I was about 14 my desire to know for myself that this church was true intensified. I often spent time praying and pondering about the teachings of this church. As I studied the Book of Mormon this passage seemed to speak straight to my heart. "And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto theses words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good. And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye--for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are this words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness" 2 Nephi 33: 10-11. I felt deeply that the teachings of Christ were good and the teachings of the Book of Mormon and what I was taught at church were good. I have had other touching experiences before and after this one, but I remember this as when I really began to truly realize for myself that I felt right about this church.

How I live my faith

I love my wife and children. I strive to repent when I do wrong. I truly try to live like Jesus. I believe He will help me along the way. I have served in various positions in local congregations called wards. For example, I have been an instructor for classes, in the presidency for a priesthood group, an assistant to the Bishop or leader of the ward. I have a partner I go out with monthly to visit families to teach a small lesson and just make sure their needs are met. I had the awesome experience when we lived in Memphis, TN to go down to Baton Rouge, LA in 2008 to help after hurricane Ike and Gustav came through. We mainly worked on cutting up fallen trees. I was amazed at how much work there was to be done, yet how much we did get done. I was also amazed at the willingness of so many to serve. Most just gave of time and energy, but some brought down heavy equipment like tractors, etc. It was a great feeling to help there!
