Hi I'm Jack

I grew up in the Yakima Valley, in Washington State. I am PROUD to be a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I was raised in the church. However, my parents encouraged me to attend other churches with my friends, and I did attend many during my years at home. Within 2 years after graduating high school(1972). I met my wife in Austin, Texas, and we were married within months. I joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. I retired for the military in 1996, with 22 years of service. Within a few months I started teaching JROTC at a small rural high school on the east coast. We have three children, and nine grandchildren, and they bring so much joy into our lives. My interest include sports cars, photography, art and reading a good book. I also enjoy discussing philosophies of life, and religion. I owe everything good in my life to Jesus Christ. He is my Savior! I was on a path to destruction, and as I reached out to Him, He lead me out, and He has blessed my life beyond words.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the Church, I had to discover for myself if it was true, and the only way is study it and asking in honest sincere prayer if it was true. As I did this the Holy Spirit manifest to me that it is true. Joseph Smith did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I have drawn so close to Our Heavenly Father by reading it, and applying the principles therein. There is no doubt in my mind, for I have felt the Spirit engulf my body as I kneeled in prayer. It was if I was surrounded by a dome which brought comfort to my soul warming me to the most inner core of my very being, and a voice came into my mind testifying that it is true. I know that Our Father in Heaven hears and answers prayers, and that he will answer yours too, if it is sincere, with true intent. You too can have the Holy Spirit bear witness to the truthfulness of the restored gospel. These same instructions are found in the New Testament, James 1:5, and in the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4 (p. 529). This is my testimony to all who read this, and that is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been resorted to the Earth through the Prophet Jesus Christ, and all the Presidents of the Church since him has been and are Prophets of God. That the Book of Mormon is true. I bear you my witness in the sacred name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I heard this story from a friend that travels in his business. He came across a Church leader from his past, and my friend asked him what he was doing in the Church, meaning to refer to what calling this former leader had for in the Church, our callings/duties change from time to time. Anyway, this man replied "I'm doing the best that I can". To which my friend responded, no I mean what is your calling? To which the man replied: "To help others do the best they can." I love it so much I have adopted this mans philosophy in my approach to describe how I live my faith. When I leave this mortal state, it is my hope that people will remember me as a disciple of The Lord Jesus Christ, and that I tried to do my best, and help others do the best they can in following Our Savior. I love reading all of the scriptures and have a daily scripture study time that helps me stay focused on what is important in this life time. As I strive to do the best I can my life is filled with joy.
