Hi I'm Carrie

I grew up in a small town in northern California and I have a degree in Recreation Leadership!

About Me

Hi! I am a 28 year old woman working at a local bookstore. I have a four year degree in Recreation Leadership and the reason I got my degree in recreation is because of my love for the outdoors. I love the trees and mountains and I try to be outside whenever I can. Among the many things I love are: different forms of art, reading, and traveling, learning about different cultures, how to play the guitar, chocolate, and most of all my family and God=)

Why I am a Mormon

There are many important reasons that explain why I choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but most of all it is because I know in my heart that it is true and living the Lord's commandments makes me deeply happy. I was born into the church, but during my late teenage years I began to question the principles I had been taught and fell away in my heart over the span of 5 or 6 years. When I was 21 my brother passed away from an accidental drug overdose and this broke our whole family's hearts in pieces. I was devastated and I didn't know where to turn for the comfort my soul so desperately needed. Soon after I had to go into treatment for my debilitating eating disorder, which got worse after my sweet brother's death. This was a deeply sad part of my life and over time I decided to try turning to the Lord. He was the only chance I had left. So over time I began to make my prayers more sincere and after a while I began to really study the scriptures. Then one day I decided to pray specifically about whether the Book of Mormon and Bible were true and if the Church of Jesus Christ was true. I prayed fervently about this for a month and then one Sunday while in church someone was testifying about their faith in the Gospel. At that second I knew with my whole being that those books and the Church were true. I felt a warm burning throughout my whole body, but mostly in my heart. Since then I have been able to witness the truth of many more principles of the Gospel simply by asking. Because of my decision to really apply my heart to the Lord's teachings and ask my questions and constantly be seeking for truth I have mercifully been given my life back. My eating disorder no longer has any control over me and I have a better relationship with my brother now than I ever did when he was alive. I know the Savior lives and that He loves each of us far more than we comprehend and that He knows how to comfort and heal us if we let Him.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and I work with the women of the church in our area making sure (to the best of my ability) that their needs are all taken care of and that they know they are loved. Sometimes I give talks on Sunday about certain topics when asked to do so, which has been a confidence building experience for me. I help organize fellowshipping activities and participate in service opportunities. I also read my scriptures every day and pray sincerely daily asking for His help and His spirit to be with me.
