Hi I'm Jeremy

I grew up in the redwoods of Northern California. I am an immigration attorney and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of five children and I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, hiking, camping, and learning new things. I grew up in a small town in northern California among the great Redwood forrest. I come from a humble background. The son of a devoted, hard working Father and loving and selfless Mother. My parents supplemented my Father's income through a large garden, milking goats, pigs, chickens and other animals on our small farm. Although I was raised without many of life's luxuries, we were always blessed with the necessities of life. Through their example my parents taught me the value of hard work, sacrifice, dedication and integrity. When I was in high school my family moved to Utah. From there, I left home to serve a two year mission in the Arcadia, California Spanish speaking mission and the Salvador, Brazil Portuguese speaking mission. Shortly after serving my mission I met my wife and we were married in the Salt Lake City Temple. We have been through much during our marriage and look forward to spending the rest of our lives and eternity together with our family. I earned a BA in English from UVU and spent 9 years in Sales and Business Management. At the end of my career in business I went to law school at UB Law School in Buffalo,NY. I have since graduated and practice law in Buffalo, NY. I opened my own law firm and focus my legal practice on U.S. Immigration law. Life is Good!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon be because I know that there is a God, my Father, that loves me, knows me, cares about me and wants me to return and live with him again. Because God loves me and all of his children, he sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to provide a way for us to return and live with him again. Our lives are but a part of a larger eternal plan that our Father has for us. This life is an opportunity for us to grow and learn from our experiences so that we can become more like Him. Our earthly and eternal progression is made possible through the perfect example and eternal sacrifice of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. It is only through Christ that we are able to overcome this life and our imperfections. Just as God loved the people of old, He loves us today. Because of His love, He guides us through his servants the prophets. God speaks with prophets today as in times past. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. As a young 14 year old boy he was visited by God and his son Jesus Christ and called to restore the gospel to the earth. He was given the authority to act in the name of God and restore the true teachings of Jesus Christ upon the earth. Joseph Smith was an instrument in the hands of God to bring forth another book of scripture, another testament of Jesus Christ, The Book of Mormon. The same power and authority that was give to Moses to act in the name of God, was given to Joseph Smith to restore The Church of Jesus Christ in these latter-days. Today's prophet is Thomas S. Monson. He has be called just as prophets of old to preach the word of God and guide us in these latter-days. I know God is my Father. Jesus is the Christ and is my savior and my redeemer. It is only through the power of his infinite atonement that I can return to live with my Father. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Thomas S. Monsoon is a prophet of God. The Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly and The Book of Mormon is the Word of God.

How I live my faith

Everyday I live my faith by looking for opportunities to serve others, having integrity, being honest in my profession, raising my children in the gospel of Jesus Christ and trying to be a better person each day through increased knowledge and experience. The legal profession has a bad reputation for being dishonest and taking advantage of others. Everyday that I go to work it is my aim to provide honest and ethical representation to each client. I make it clear to all those that I represent that I will not participate in anything that is dishonest, illegal, fraudulent or deceptive. In a world that is filled with deception and dishonesty this is sometimes difficult. There are those in the world that live without honor or guilt of conscience. Those that will lie, cheat, steal and do whatever is necessary for their own good. As I hold strong to my beliefs at home, work and everywhere that life takes me, I find peace of mind and peace of conscience. I know that as I live my life in accordance go the commandments of God, that me and my family will be blessed. There is a comfort in not having to worry about what you have done or said. I also live my faith by visiting those in need, providing service to my community, participating in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs, coaching youth sports, helping at the local food bank, providing free legal services to immigrants and by considering the needs and feelings of others.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

My family is my central purpose in life. My family and the gospel of Jesus Christ provide me with the anchor that I need to make it through the everyday challenges and trials that I face. There is nothing that comes close to coming home after a long day at work, a trying situation, or a difficult trial, to the loving arms of my wife and children. Family is so important to me because it is eternal and continues beyond this earth and the grave. Soon after marriage it was our decision to have children. I am now the proud father of seven children (5 biological, 2 adopted and 1 already in heaven waiting for our eternal reunion). Along with the joys that come with being a husband and father, there have been many trials. Trials that have been very difficult to pass through. Trials that have brought me to tears and my knees. It is during these times that I have found strength and support from being a part of a family. My family reminds me of the purpose of life and keeps me grounded. I know that I have a Father in heaven that loves me and that we are all part of an eternal family. It is a great blessing and honor to be a husband and a father. A responsibility and blessing that brings me immediate and eternal joy. Show more Show less
