Hi I'm Anel

I'm a Nurse Practitioner and I am Mormon.

About Me

I am a Nurse Practitioner and love my job. One thing my clients notice is that I am fairly young. I focused on school and made this a priority. I was not born in Texas but have resided here for 20+ years and love it. I am a true Texan. My current hobbies include traveling, scrapbooking, and camping/hiking. I love to try new things. I am currently learning how to make cake pops. My number one hobby is traveling. I love traveling because you have the opportunity to learn about new cultures and try new foods. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I enjoy sitting down with a good book. I spend a lot of time at bookstores and the public library. I spend a lot of time with my family. I have wonderful parents, sibling and nieces/nephew. I have a huge extended family that is also very close knit.

Why I am a Mormon

This is a great question. I grew up in a Mormon household. My mother was a convert and my father is what we call a "return missionary." He served in Australia, Spanish speaking. Even though I was raised in a Mormon household every individual needs to gain their on testimony. Growing up my parents taught me to see the good in other dominations. Many people think I am Mormon because I have not been taught otherwise. I attended a Catholic middle school and have attended numerous religious services of other faiths. I am Mormon!! I am because of the fundamental principles that I have been taught and have gained a knowledge of. The relationship that I have with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel so blessed to have the knowledge of Eternal Families. I am Mormon because it is my AGENCY.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. I teach Sunday School. This is approximately a 40 minute class. We are currently studying the New Testament. Regular individual scripture study and pray is a way of life. Due to my work many social events involve the use of alcohol. All my staff is fully aware that I do not drink and they respect this. Even many of the representatives I am in contact with understand that I do not drink and make appropriate accommodations. I have often been told that my life must be easy because I am happy. This is simply not true. Every life is full of hardships, challenges, and trials but life is also full of WONDERFULNESS. I am happy because I know that I am loved by my Heavenly Father and Jesus.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

I have a strong testimony of tithing. Growing up my parents paid their tithing no matter how dire their financial circumstances were and this helped me develop a testimony on tithing. This is a principle that my 6 year old niece is learning. It is wonderful to watch her develop this principle. I have been so blessed and the idea of paying 10% of my income to the Lord comes naturally. The Lord has blessed with my an education, a good job, shelter, and food. Many individuals wonder what is tithing used for? Tithing is used to move forward the work of the Lord. Our church is a non-paid clergy. My bishop is my bishop because he was called of God and not for the financial gain. Tithing is a principle of faith. The Lord will bless you for living his commandants. Show more Show less
