Hi I'm Maryann

I am a mother of twins, grandmother of two and a school teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college at the age of 49. It was a long journey but worth the road traveled. I raised twins and am now a grandma of two young grandsons. Hobbies include: cooking, traveling, playing volleyball and basketball. I teach 2nd grade and I am passionate about teaching children to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Lord and he has always been there for me. Even in my darkest trials he has comforted me. I joined the church in my late teens when I was searching for answers that no one else could provide. I felt the spirit so strong when I read the Book of Mormon that I could not deny its power and from whom it came. I seek him when I need answers and he always gives them. He blesses me daily. I have witnessed the priesthood power many times and know that by faith and this power many miracles do and will happen in our lives. I know the president of our church President Monson is a true prophet of God and that Joseph Smith did see the Lord our God that day in the woods while he prayed. The Holy Ghost reveals this and much more as I pray and follow the counsel of our Heavenly Father. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to do what Jesus would have me do. That is to treat others with kindness and love. To serve others willingly. I serve in my church by leading music during Sunday meetings and helping out with events. I donate my time and other resources to help others in need. Whether it is a mother who needs some company, or a family that needs a meal and comfort due to illness. Many have given me service as well. Many members of the church have been by my side when I needed them most. Our church is the church of Jesus Christ and we serve as he would serve. My hands are the Lord's hands and I will go and do what he asks of me.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

I dress in my best clothes and shoes for church. My best clothing is always a modest dress or skirt and blouse. I am going to learn about the Lord and feel his love. I want to look my best for him. I celebrate most holidays especially Christmas and Easter where we get to honor the Lord for what he has done for all mankind. I celebrate many other holidays that are of significance to my community, family, and friends no matter what their religion or race. It is wonderful to share with friends the things that are important to them. Show more Show less
