Hi I'm Owen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with several children, both sons and daughters. I am just getting into the Grandfather stage of my life. I have been involved in Scouting for many years, serving as Cubmaster, Webelos Leader, Den Leader, Committee Chairperson, Charter Rep, Assistant Scoutmaster and currently a Scoutmaster. I have always loved the outdoors ever since I was a young boy, spending many hours running through the forest around our house, fishing, camping, hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, biking, amusements parks (they are out side, too), etc. I still enjoy these things now. I love doing them with my family and the scouts. I try to take part in as many school trips and activities as I can with my children. I love to read books that teach me "How to do something", currently reading about how to sail.

Why I am a Mormon

My father had been a Mormon since he was 9 years old and my mother was a Baptist up until a year or so before I was born. So when I was 8, I was baptized. When I was 14, I started early morning seminary (scripture study, Old and New Testament, Church History and Book of Mormon) before going to school and developed a strong testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon (we were studying the Book of Mormon my first year). My dad was the teacher for two years. I spent many hours listening to him prepare his lessons at night and then again in class the next morning as he presented them. I came to love the prophets and the scriptures. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover for the first time that year. The Holy ghost testified to me that it was all true. That Jesus Christ was my Lord and Savior. That only through Him could I return to my Heavenly Fathers present. That only through obedience to His commandments and having the proper ordinances preformed could I have a chance to live with my family forever after this life is over. I was determined that despite all my weaknesses, I would continue to do all that I could to keep His commandments. I decided that year to serve a two year mission for the church when I turned 19 so I could share the gospel with others. When I returned from that mission, I was married in the temple to a wonderful women. I continue to go to church with faith that I can grow and progress through Christ atonement, with hopes of being with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to answer yes to my church leaders when asked to do something. I have had the opportunity to serve the Lord by teaching youth in Primary , youth Sunday School and adult Sunday School classes, and teaching in our Young Men's Program, teaching all ages from 3 to 93 years old. Plus working in Cub Scouts and Scouts for many years. I try to help my neighbors when ever possible and teach my children to do the same.
