Hi I'm Ben

I'm an LDS youth who lives in Vancouver, BC and loves science and technology. I really like this city.

About Me

I am in grade 12; I want to study mechanical engineering, I love rockets (and everything aerospace), computers, and building pretty much anything, both virtually and physically.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it's what God wants me to do. I know that he loves me, and that I am his child. I know he sent his son to die for me so that I could live in Heaven again. I know that God called Joseph Smith to restore the FULL gospel to the Earth and that he brought back the knowledge necessary for man to have access to the power of God again. My knowledge of the gospel has brought me great peace and happiness. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love sharing he gospel whenever I can; I've accompanied the Missionaries a few times to help teach people. I also like being involved with the youth program, and am part of a committee that plans activities. I try to be kind to everyone I meet.

What is faith?

I love this question. More importantly I love the answer. A simple and general definition of faith would be to believe in something you cannot see. For instance, most people flip a light switch, having faith that it will change the level of darkness in the room. They cannot see the wires behind the wall, nor the electricity running through the wires, but they believe it is there. In gospel context, faith is more than trust, it is also the willingness to act. For example, lets say you wanted to increase your faith in prayer. James 1:5 says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." In other words, if you have a question, ask God in prayer and He will answer. You can trust this verse all you want, but what good is it if you don't do anything? Faith is taking the initiative to pray yourself. In 1820 Joseph Smith went through this exact process, and the result was God asking him to restore the Gospel and reconstruct His church as it was when Jesus walked the Earth. In the past I've asked for knowledge and comfort through prayer, and while I've never had an experience quite like Joseph Smith, God has always answered me, somehow. So in summary, faith is trusting in the gospel enough to act upon it. I promise that as you act in faith you will start to feel a stronger belief in and love for Christ, just like I do whenever I act in faith. I bear witness of this in the name of Jesus Christ.
