Hi I'm Ray

I grew up in Arizona, have great parents, have a home building business in Texas, and I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and all sports. My current sports passion is road biking. My wife and I have 6 kids. I went on a mission for our church in the Pacific islands and Southern California. I hope to someday produce some of the inventions I have created in my mind.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and I have attended church regularly my entire life. However, being a good Mormon takes great dedication and so at some point I had to know if it was the right thing for me. Early in my life I went to church because my parents did, but as I approached 19 years of age I had to know it was right for me. I was about to make the biggest decision of my life, taking two years out of my life to serve a mission far from home, teacher others about my religion and about Jesus Christ, something I was not sure I wanted to do when I was a shy 18 year old. I probably decided to go on my mission more, not to disappoint my parents, as I was very shy and unsure. I went and it was a matter of weeks before I was sure of my faith and excited about sharing what I knew of my Savior. The spirit helped me know I was doing the right thing and serving others felt right and made me excited about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Fast forward 20 plus years, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a huge part of our families lives. It gives me and my family something solid to hold onto in a tough world. Our kids are growing up in very tough times and it is hard for them to make the right choices but our church and it's values help them want to make the right decisions and it is very comforting to see them have the desire to do right. Like my wife and I, our kids are far from perfect, but seeing them want to do what is right brings a lot of satisfaction into our lives. Life is full of disappointments and having our lives centered around Christ sure helps us to have a solid place to land when the carpet is pulled out from under us. I believe that that Jesus Christ died for us and that God and Jesus Christ love each of us and want us to be happy. I know it is not easy to be happy and content in today's world, but I know if I follow the teachings and example of Christ that I will be happy.

How I live my faith

Serving in our church has allowed me to work with our youth and others and see the great examples they set in a very challenging world. I currently work with those seeking employment. Serving in our church, in addition to the already very busy family and work world I live in, is very challenging but has great rewards as you see the service you provide helping others. Well put by one of my youth sunday school students "when in doubt serve in out"
