Hi I'm Tim

I was born and raised in Boulder Colorado. I've recently (6/11) converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

About Me

I'm 63 years young, single (divorced) and self employed in construction, home maintenance, mechanical repairs. For the past 8 years, I was elder care giver for my parents, who have both passed away now. I like to fish, camp, ski and drive the rough back roads of the Colorado Rockies, although I haven't done much of any of that for the past ten years or so.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised an evangelical Christian, yet in all my "religious" training, I was left wondering about many things, including the questions of where I came from, why I'm here on earth, and where I'm going after this life. My searching and pondering brought into my life, at this time, the Book of Mormon. I decided to read it with an open heart and mind, seeking answers by prayer and meditation. My testimony (that is, my statement of faith regarding this "religion") came from God through the power of the Holy Ghost, such that, in my heart and mind, I have absolutely no doubt where I came from, why I'm here and where I'm going. I have often wondered why, among the "christian" religions, there are so many sects or denominations, all professing the same faith, yet having so much difference in doctrine and principle. I read in Scripture that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism"... I concluded the difference is in the interpretations of scripture. I also read that "by the testimony of two or three witnesses, the truth shall be known", and "that no scripture is of private interpretation". I have come to learn that the Bible references the Book of Mormon, and the Book of Mormon compliments and confirms the Bible. Indeed the Bible is quoted at length in the Book of Mormon. I have come to believe that the Book of Mormon contains, as does the Bible, the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the plan of salvation, and the answers to man's most basic and pressing questions such as the purpose of life. The Bible is the first testament of Jesus Christ.... the Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ".

How I live my faith

There is much purpose to my life... to every life on this earth! One purposes is to share my skills and talents with and for other people. I do that by being available for service in the church and in community activities; to reach out to people in need; to be willing to help anyone I can, however I can. I'm also learning to be tolerant of other faiths and belief systems, yet I'm ready to share the gospel of Jesus Christ whenever I am asked the reason for my faith.
