Hi I'm Rita

I'm a Mormon. It wasn't until I turned 40 that I figured that out. Since joining the church I have found profound peace.

About Me

I am a mother and grandmother and work in the accounting field. I love to sew and do crafts of all kinds when I have time. I am technologically challenged and haven't even figured out how to use Facebook. My idea of a Smart Phone is one that looks really nice. Somehow I have managed to survive in this society despite my backwardness. The younger generations continually amaze me and I remain indebted to many of them for guiding me through the electronic maze we live in today. I am also grateful for being able to access the scriptures electronically. I was a bit embarrassed to carry around the large font Bible and Book of Mormon. Now I can look like everyone else, all techy and stuff, while I increase the size of the font to whatever I want to. It's a good life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in a different religion but always felt there had to be something more. In my journey through life I found that the people I was attracted to as friends had the values I felt were important. While not always the case, most of them ended up being Mormon. I began to investigate the church and soon realized that the values and beliefs upheld by the church made perfect sense to me. I had heard some disparaging things about the Mormon church but came to know that they had originated from misinformation. As I prayed and asked God for a witness of the truth I was blessed to come to know that this is His church and that by embracing it's teachings I would be able to live a purposeful and worthy life. I have found such peace and experienced the true love of Christ. True joy is a way of life, a choice, being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my values every day through service to my fellow man be it my church family, co-workers, neighbors or strangers I encounter. We all have a need to feel appreciated and recognized as valuable. It is so easy to share a smile, a word of encouragement, a recognition as we go through life. It feels safe to keep to ourselves for fear of looking foolish or being vulnerable. Each of us carries the power to brighten this world just a little bit by being willing to risk looking foolish or having the courage to be vulnerable. We have been told by the Lord: Matthew 25:40 ".....Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Be it through church callings, volunteer work, donations of time or resources, it is my firm belief that the measure of our worth is all related to the manner in which we treat our fellow man and this beautiful earth we are blessed to inhabit.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Through the gift of the Holy Ghost we can receive a personal witness of the truth of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. If we pray and listen and live worthily we can and will know of the Lord's will for us. Show more Show less
