Hi I'm Alison

I am a wife and mother. I am passionate about life, color, literature and culture. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the third of nine children. I grew up in a very traditional Mormon homeschooling family with very clearly defined roles. Perhaps one of the greatest challenges I have faced over the years has been discovering who I am apart from anyone else's definition. The greatest constant for me has been the knowledge that I am a daughter of God! I graduated with my B.A. in English shortly after returning from an LDS mission in Peru. Then I met and married the love of my life within 2 1/2 short months and we now have a beautiful daughter! Although at times I may seem to have it all together, with no mammoth obstacles or trials as others have had, I have come to appreciate the uniqueness of each life and recognize that each life experience is perfectly tailored to that individual for their potential perfection and eternal happiness!

Why I am a Mormon

I have often wondered what my life may have been like if I hadn't been born into an LDS family, and I honestly have no idea. But whether born into it or not, each member and individual reaches a moment in life or moments when they must choose and know for themselves if it is true. I have reached that place more than once, each time I've made a mistake, I must decide if I want to truly accept the Savior's love and atonement or not. That is the whole base or foundation of this gospel. It is like a road map and each time I make a right or left, my destination changes unless I choose to ask for help and receive a correction from my Spiritual GPS :). The choice is always mine, do I accept the fullness of His gospel? or do I want to go at it alone and try and get directions along the way from strangers that know as much about my destination as I do? I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church on the face of the earth that provides that Spiritual GPS through the voice of a living Prophet and through the Gift of the Holy Ghost - only received through the power of the Priesthood as restored by Jesus Christ through His servants.

How I live my faith

In the area I live I serve as a children's leader. I help to coordinate the children's meetings and teach the children about Christ and His love for each of them. The theme for this year is Choosing the Right - making choices that will lead us back to the presence of our Heavenly Father. I also enjoy serving several women in our ward. This is called visiting teaching. Another woman accompanies me as we assess the needs of each woman or "sister" and strive to address each need and build her understanding of our Heavenly Father's gospel and especially of His love for her. I love these wonderful women and am so grateful for the strength they give to me and the examples they are for me in following in the Savior's footsteps!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Alison
The Bible states that Faith without works is dead. I like to think of Faith as a cycle. We show our faith in Christ by being obedient to God's commandments and making a conscious effort to become like Him by studying His words and teachings. When we do these "works" our faith in Him increases and so does our capacity to be obedient and follow Him. And so it continues. Faith in Jesus Christ goes hand in hand with our Hope that with His help we can someday become like Him. Show more Show less
