Hi I'm Caitlin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lead a fairly normal life so far. I am currently going to school and getting a degree in sociology. I will be graduating really soon. I am a music lover. In high school I was a major band geek and some of that nerdiness has continued on with me. I love watching all sorts of movies even movies from the 30's and 40's (love me some Fred and Ginger!). I am also a tv junky. I also love playing pretty much any sport but I especially love volleyball! What comes with my love of sports is my proneness to injury. I am quite the cluts. I once dislocated my knee playing ping pong.

Why I am a Mormon

I have not always been a member of the church and am currently the only member in my family. I was introduced to the church in high school by my best friend. I started going to church and attending youth activities. About a month into my investigation my father was diagnosed with cancer. This was a difficult time but I continued to go to church and learn more about the gospel. One thing that was taught a lot to me at this time was the Plan of Salvation, learning that families are eternal and that we can all live together and with our Heavenly Father again. Four months after he was diagnosed my father passed away. There was a ton of support for me at that time from the members of the church. I was not baptized for a long time, 2 years to be precise, but during that time I was able to learn a lot and see how attending church, studying the scriptures and praying affected my everyday life and my character for the better. I was also being very stubborn and was somewhat afraid to commit. That is when I read Mosiah 18:10 which basically says if you want to be a kind, charitable, loving person then why are you not baptized yet. I realized that the type of person I wanted to be and the things I wanted in my life were the same things that being a member of the church would provide. I know that the things I have today are because of the church and the gospel. I am the person I am because I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and provided me with people in my life at specific times in my life to provide me with what I need. I am grateful for what being a member of the church has taught me and for having the perfect example of how I should be in Christ.

How I live my faith

I am extremely active in my ward, participating in anything I can. I have had the opportunity to serve in music areas, in missionary efforts, in institute callings and even as a leader for young women in the church. All of these have strengthened me. What I believe shows how I live my faith is the example I am to those around me. I try to always be optimistic and happy. I try to make people feel comfortable around me by being funny. I try to always let people know that I am Mormon and allow them the opportunity to ask me any questions they might have. I try to always be helpful. I feel like these things are the best examples of how I live my faith.
