Hi I'm Whitney

I am a Texan at heart, I am student at Brigham Young University, I am preparing to serve a mission, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am nineteen years old and will soon be devoting a year and a half of my life to teaching and serving as a missionary and representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love sports, fantasy novels, a good movie, and spending time with my family and friends. While leaving behind all I've ever known in order to be a missionary is both a hard and a scary concept, I am so excited to begin teaching the people of Louisiana and share the gospel that has brought my life so much joy. Because of my faith, I am able to endure and excel to the best of my ability in all things through my Savior Jesus Christ. This includes all facets of my life such as being a student at BYU, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a missionary, and a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the Book of Mormon and had a desire to know if it and what I'd been taught all my life was true. I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know for myself and He answered. I felt an overwhelming feeling of peace, happiness, and assurance that this is the true church. I've known ever since. I know with all my heart that this church is true. I know my Savior, Jesus Christ lives. I know he atoned for my sins and because of his infinite sacrifice I know one day I can return and live with Him and Heavenly Father again. I know they love us and I love them. I'm a Mormon because this church makes me happy; it gives me hope. I'm a Mormon because it's true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting differently than other teenagers my age. I don't swear, I wear modest and appropriate clothing, I don't watch R-rated movies, and I don't drink alcohol or other harmful substances among other things. However it is not only the things I don't do, but also the things I do choose to do. I read my scriptures everyday and pray throughout the day. I attend church meetings weekly and I try to be charitable and I listen to the words of a living prophet. But most importantly, I try to act as my Savior would if He were in my place. I'm no where near perfect, but I'm trying.
