Hi I'm Debra

I was born in Utah, but grew up in CO, CA and AZ. I work as a Department Manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single woman with 2 grown married children with families of their own. My daughter has 3 young boys and a 1 daughter. My son has his first child due this summer, 6/12. My job is for a major newspaper in the Phoenix area and I have worked in the post-press production department for 30 years. I started out in a trainee position, became a journeyman mailer, then was asked to be trained as a floor supervisor. From there, I retained various positions to my current, as the Mailroom Manager. I enjoy church activities, family time, the outdoors, eating right, staying healthy, working out and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born of LDS parentage, our parents did not have us attend church until we moved to AZ when I was in my teen years. During this period of time I was more interested in my peers than learning about the Gospel and what it meant to me. I ended up marrying a man of the Catholic faith who did not support me in my religion and I went on throughout most of my life not understanding or knowing the impact this would have on my life. The choices I made in raising my 2 children without any clear direction causes me great pain to this day. It wasn't until 2 years ago when I found myself as a single woman and moved to Mesa was I strongly impressed to seek out my Ward. From the moment I attended Sacrament Meeting that first Sunday I realized through the overwhelming impressions of the Holy Ghost how important it was that I be right there learning everything I should know. I cried many times that Sunday and many Sundays to come. I learned many precepts of the Gospel that I never knew from my youth and I continue to learn each and every day as I read, study and pray. I know that this Gospel is true and I know if I live the commandments of Jesus Christ I will live with him some day in Celestial glory. The Holy Ghost speaks to me often and guides me in the right direction through divine inspiration. I know that the Book of Morman has powerful truths and testimonies and I know that we have a living prophet who guides and directs our church today - the same as in the days of old, as evidenced in the Book of Mormon. I have never felt such peace and joy in my life as I do now. I qualify this change to my loving commitment to God and his Son, Jesus Christ at the divine center of my life.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my Ward in Mesa, AZ. I was welcomed by so many wonderful members when I first attended church 2 years ago. It is my desire to show the same welcome to others in the church and extend this fellowship. I have several church callings in the church. I am the Women's Single Adult Representative do monthly visiting teaching. Service is an intregral part of our church work and brings immense blessings to our lifes. I also try to be an example to others in my every day life. I feel empowered to continually learn and develop my knowledge of the Savior and try to live the best I can. With this knowledge comes peace and joy!
