Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Mormon. I grew up as the only member in my family. I live in Phoenix Arizona where I teach women's self defense.

About Me

I am a mother of 3. I am a permanent make up artist who also has a love of martial arts. I have the best job in the world, I get to visit with women all day long. Then I get to go to the dojo and kick some proverbial booty. I began karate when my children did. They have all long since moved on, but I fell in love with it. I am now a second degree black belt and I teach at our school. I have gone onto compete and I am proud to say that I have won National and World tournaments as a black belt.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 11. I am the only member in my family. Why did I join at 11? Probably because they had cool activities and my friends were there. Why did I stay a member of the church? I am a member now because I know that God is a loving God and that through this church he has made it possible for me and my family to be a family forever.

How I live my faith

Through my martial arts I have learned a lot about women's self defense. Firstly, that teaching women to protect themselves with karate is not the best way to go. I have become a strong advocate of bringing awareness to women's abuse and more importantly to teach women. I have begun my own cause called Moxie Up. I teach women self defense for free! My goal is to teach 1,000 women in my town by Valentine's Day 2013. I love the women that I work with and I want to help them to stay safe.
