Hi I'm Tessa

I'm married to a wonderful man, have an adorable little dog, I work with troubled youth and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of my favorite things things to do is connect with people, whether that's through my passion of blogging or simply attending all my church meetings, it's definitely how I enjoy spending my time. I also like to read, write, be with my husband and my large family. One special thing I did when I graduated high school was going to Guatemala to learn about the culture and to learn Spanish. It was a breathtaking, eye-opening, and testimony-strengthening opportunity! After spending a month there I started college where I met my amazing husband on the first day of classes. Together we love to make new friends, attend church and the temple, and play with our tiny Maltipoo, Toby.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church and was raised diligently in the gospel by my loving parents and family. I had no doubt that at 8 years old I had a testimony of Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven and wanted to be baptized. I had a desire to be the best me I could be and knew the only way was through living this gospel every day of my life. I was nowhere near perfect and knew that. Because I'm a Mormon, I have learned so much about my life, the life of others but most important, the life of Christ. Having that knowledge fills me with an indescribable happiness. I can take on challenges and trials with much more faith. I can serve others with the pure love of Christ. I know the plan that Heavenly Father has in store for me. It's beautiful and miraculous. I love having this gospel be so much of who I am and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My husband and I attend a unique ward made up of young married couples. This provides so many wonderful opportunities to serve others. One of my favorite times to serve is when babies are born in the ward, I enjoy cooking meals and taking them to the new parents. It is so exciting to see a new family and the precious gift of life in their home. I also serve those people who have passed on from this life by entering their names into the database for family history and temple work to be done. I feel a special connection to those people who did not have the opportunity to welcome the gospel into their lives while they were alive on earth. As a teacher on Sundays I am privileged to study the most recent words of the prophet and apostles and discuss that message with the women in my ward. I find that I usually learn so much more than anyone else in the class and that brings me so much gratitude and joy. But I would have to say that my most valuable calling to serve is that of visiting the other women in my ward in their homes. I have developed so many friendships through this branch of service than any other way in my life. I feel the love of the Savior when I serve others and strive to help others feel His love, too. Every day I am striving to be my best self and live how our Savior lived-humble, caring, concerned and loving.
