Hi I'm Gary Thornton

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, seven children and currently 22 grandchildren and extended family are the most important part of my life. As part of that I have become involved in researching my family history. My wife and I have recently received a call to serve as missionaries in the Idaho Nampa Mission office. We are expected to serve from February 2018 to August 2019.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has come from Mormon families for quite a few generations. However, it was a conscious decision I made as a teenager that the values of the people around me impressed me to make this my life's choice and how I would raise my family. At the core of this decision has been a growing and deepening personal testimony of the truthfulness of what Joseph Smith declared happened to him and the Book of Mormon and that both are latter-day witnesses of Jesus Christ as my personal savior.

How I live my faith

I have been priveleged to participate in a number of areas of the Church. Among these are Boy Scouts of America, several bishoprics, a 2 year mission to southern England, Stake High Council, and others. Associating in a church that requires us to participate in all areas as volunteers, since we do not have a paid clergy, has allowed me to meet many wonderful people and get to know them on a personal level who have high ideals and standards and has allowed me to expose my children to the standards and values I hold most important. Also, I feel this allows us to contribute in a meaningful way to our community, state and nation.
