Hi I'm Jon Harrison

I grew up in Southern California, served a mission in Georgia and am an active Christian, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life pretty much revolves around three things - family, church and work. I've been married for 20 years and have two daughters in their teens. I enjoy listening to podcasts of all kinds, listening to good uplifting music, watching a little TV, and playing around with and on computers and console systems like the Microsoft Xbox 360.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an active LDS home but just went through the motions until I served a mission. My mission was the turning point in my life. It was during my mission that I truly learned who Jesus Christ was and what He had done for me. It was at that point that I decided to truly live a Christian life. It was on my mission that I really found my testimony of the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ because they give me hope and peace and strength. My testimony of Him is that He knows me personally and has paid the ultimate price that Justice demands in order for me to return to my Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ has made it possible for me to return to my heavenly home. I know I can turn to Him for help, for strength, for comfort and for guidance whenever I'm in need.

How I live my faith

I'm a teacher in the Sunday School and my class revolves around new members and anyone who's not a member of the church and is just visiting or perhaps investigating. We learn about the basic principles of the gospel, such as faith, repentance, honesty, charity, service, tithes and offerings, etc. It's a wonderful opportunity for me as the teacher. I'm sure I learn more than the students because of the preparation I put into the lessons. I also live my faith by trying to avoid things that push the Spirit away. As an example, I try to listen to good music often. As I've matured I've found that my taste in music has changed so that I prefer uplifting and spiritual music over other kinds of music. It amazes me how uplifting I find just singing the hymns during our church services and singing in the choir. I have no doubt that my love of good music helps me to live my faith and be a better person.
