Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Mormon. I live in rural Utah where I was born and raised. I am now raising my 6 sons here with my dear husband.

About Me

I am a mother of 6 boys. I live in a rural environment with 20 chickens and a dog. I love being a mom, but cannot even believe how hard it is each day to keep moving forward. Some days I am concerned that I will be found under a pile of laundry only after my family starts to get hungry! I home school my children for a variety of reasons and I am pleased with this choice and feel like Heavenly Father guided me to it. I read and run to keep myself sane! I am crazy about my husband who works hard every day to take care of this family. I tend to be a private person and sometimes feel like it is easier for me to just stay home, do what I know is right and call it good. But, I have to wonder if there is a mom out there who knows something is missing and can't figure out what it is. I know without a doubt that without the gospel, beautiful family or not, I couldn't make it in this scary world and my life would lack true meaning. I hate to think that there may be someone out there that I could share this perfect gift with, but didn't...

Why I am a Mormon

I was the first to join the church in my family when I was 10. Within a couple of years my parents and my sister did as well. I was old enough when I was baptized to remember the "before" and "after" in my family. The only way to describe it is before it was dark and after there was continual light. My family was loving and close before and after so maybe that doesn't make a lot of sense, but it is the truth none the less. The Lord has blessed me to have a soft heart and I have been able to feel his spirit with me when I do what is right. I feel darkness and an ache when I do what is wrong and I don't want that in my life. I love my Savior, He is my best friend. Sometimes being the mother of 6, home schooling and having an adopted son from Haiti makes me feel alone and misunderstood, but when the Savior is with me I am never alone. I love Him, I don't want to let him down and I believe that being active in this faith is what He wants me to do.

How I live my faith

I try hard to serve the Lord in whatever He asks me to do. Some of the things he has asked of me now are: be a visiting teacher to 4 sisters in my ward, serve as den leader in the cub scouts, serve as scout committee chair person, teach the adult women, raise my boys and love and serve my husband. Sometimes it feels like a lot and I feel overwhelmed, but I think the Lord blesses us every time we do the things that He asks.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is what sustains me and helps me through each and every day. A testimony is a surety in your heart that God lives, that He loves you and that He has a work for you to do. Knowing the Lord sent me here with a purpose certainly makes it easier to get up and get at it everyday. Because I KNOW, I cannot let him down. Show more Show less
