Hi I'm Diedra

I'm a wife and mother of 5 children and 15 grandchildren. I grew up in Oklahoma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to a wonderful husband and we have been married for 44 years. We have 5 children. All but 1 is married. They have given us 15 grandchildren. I love sports.. especially college football and volleyball. I have many hobbies like scrapbooking, calligraphy, reading, and playing with my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the church, however both of my parents were not. My mother was a member, but my father was not. But even people who have always been members had to have some point at which they really wanted to know if everything they had been taught was really true. I read the Book of Mormon while I was in high school and attending an early morning class where we studied the scriptures. I felt the truthfulness of the book and so I prayed about it. There were no lights, or visions, or voices, just a gentle confirmation... a warm feeling, really.... that all those things that I already believed are definitely true! I love that the gospel is all about love, how much my Heavenly Father loves me. And I love that there is such an emphasis on the family and that is where our true and eternal happiness lay. I know today, just as I knew growing up, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who translated the Book of Mormon. I know that God lives. That He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to come to earth and atone for all of our sins. I know that as we live righteous lives that we can work our way back to live with our Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ and all of our families forever. I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and is the perfect vehicle to help me on my journey back to my eternal home.

How I live my faith

Because there is no paid ministry in our church, each member is given a job or assignment to help the church function. Since I have been a member for 62 years now, I have had many jobs - or callings, as we call them. I have worked in the women's organization, the children's group, and the young teenage group. I have taught sunday school, led the music, spoken in church, put on church dinners and programs, and even been a full-time missionary. The beauty of this church is that we each get our chance to lead and our chance to follow. Sometimes we are the President, other times we are the workers. It has been a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow.
