Hi I'm Lincoln

I love wrestling on the trampoline with my kids, I love my wife, love graphic design and architecture and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

From Adelaide we migrated north to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. I grew up in the sun, surf and coastal lifestyle but also grew up in a fortunate family with two older sisters and loving parents. When leaving school, I was choosing between graphic design and architecture and chose graphic design as my career path but never lost my love of architecture. After studying Design at the Queensland College of Art for two years I left to fulfil a two year, volunteered, mission for the church. Having learned a whole lot more about life and what I wanted for my life I returned to Brisbane and completed my third year of university. I've worked as a designer for a little over 10 years and I'm now currently looking after a spread of marketing, branding and creative design for a local engineering company. I often wished I was as funny and witty as many of my creative colleagues but I'm a pretty serious person and I'm ok with that - I reckon there's a place in the world for people like me too. When my mum taught me to draw and paint as a kid, I learned how to look for light and shade and see the beauty in shape and form. I continue to be amazed today when I see the gleam of light in the eye and feel a sense of the divine in all of us.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents joined the church in their teens and through difficult circumstances decided to keep their faith and clung to their values and taught those values to us kids. As an observant youth I paid close attention to those around me at school, church, in the surf, etc and i found that my happiness seemed to correlate with coming to know God better. Through study and prayer I've come to know for myself that God is real. He is my loving Father in heaven and by coming to know my father better I've come to know myself better. I know that God continues to answer my prayers and that I identify with those answers as a feeling much more than a hearing. I know those feelings are just as potent and real as the other senses.

How I live my faith

I wake up in the morning, say a prayer to help me kick start my day and get on with being a Dad and Husband, even when the kids are screaming as you leave the door for work. I try to do the right thing by my employers and then love coming home and getting crash tackled by my two kids accompanied by a deafening "Daddy!" Sunday's I teach a group of guys at church and occasionally help out with organizing, music and choral groups for church events. I really enjoy the music part of what I do at church. I reckon there's just as much of a real connection you can have with God through singing as you can with prayer, and it's pretty special to help others feel that too.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

There have been numerous time during history when God asks his people to live by certain laws or practices, some out of relevance to circumstances and others out of faith. During the early days of the Church's restoration in the early 1800's the Lord also saw fit to restore the principle of plural marriage as part of a restoration of all things. It was appropriate at that time for God to do so and also a test of faith. Later, God again through inspiration through his then prophet Wilford Woodruff, saw fit that the time for the principle of plural marriage was no longer appropriate. Personally I have one wife and we enjoy what I would think is a fairly typical marriage with ups and downs but we love each other and most of all we work with God to make our marriage work.
