Hi I'm Anita

and i'm a mormon

About Me

I'm a Full time wife to an amazing husband and mother of two beautiful children. I LOVE LIFE. My interests and hobbies are diverse and many. I love film & performing arts, MUSICALS, most things outdoors watersports, snowboarding, rock climbing, mountain hiking, snowboarding, team sports, picnics ;) ... I also enjoy decorating and some arts and crafts and I enjoy a good book when i get a chance :) I'm also a fan of afternoon tv to get me through till hubby gets home ;)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a mormon and so I feel blessed because of that. I have never had to go searching for truth because I have always felt it has been right there as a part of my life. As a teenager I started to study the scriptures and pray for myself and what came with that was a strong conviction that I belonged to the true church of God. When I was a teenager I made the goal to be married in the temple and raise a family in the gospel. Now I am living it and loving it. I believe our purpose in this life is to be tested and to aim to make it back home to our Heavenly Father. Through being sealed in the temple my family can be forever :) Being a member of the church blesses my life in so many ways I cannot imagine what it would be like without the sure knowledge we have of why we're here on this earth and what our eternal destiny is.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good Christian and especially set a good example for my own children and others in our ward. I want the next generation to be strong & have testimonies of their Saviors love for them. I have served in the church as a music director, primary teacher (5 year olds) and as a secretary and counsellor in the Relief Society (womens organisation).

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom was a revelation given to the prophet Jospeh Smith in 1833 as a standard to help keep our bodies healthy and clean. We know our bodies are temples and so to take care of them we need to choose healthy foods and avoid any harmful substances i.e tobacco, alcohol. coffee and tea, illegal drugs. It is interesting to note that when 'The Word of Wisdom' was written it was actually thought to be good for you to chew and smoke tobacco. Health professionals of coarse know now how harmful this is to our health. This is another good example to me of how the Lord sends his warning voice through his prophets. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

The women in the Church are all a part of a World Wide Sisterhood called "Relief Society" where we are able to touch the lives of our families and communities with love, charity, sacrifice and service. Women in the church do not feel inferior to men who hold the Priesthood to act in the name of God but they have a reverence and respect for it. My life is so blessed to have a Priesthood holder in my home. He is able to bless our home and each of us with special Priesthood blessings and I have never felt more at peace then when my husband uses his priesthood. I stand by him and support him with what I feel to be a tremendous burden. Women and Men in the Church work together equally and the men are taught never to hold unrighteous dominion over anyone because of their office in the Priesthood. And so men and women are on level ground and help each other with our different assignments to fulfill whatever work is required. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

baptism is a saving ordinance which Heavenly Father requires for all his children on the earth. Through baptism we put ourselves on the path back to God. We take upon ourselves his name. Jesus was baptised even though he was perfect and didn't need to be forgiven of any sins it was his mission to show us the perfect example. Mormons perform baptism for the dead to enable them a chance to have that saving ordinance. They can choose whether to accept it as they're in the spirit world. We believe many spirits are waiting for their work to be done for them in the temple and are joyful when it is finally done and recorded :) Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Absolutely. Mormon women have all the knowledge they need to cultivate themselves into choice, beautiful daughters of God who stand tall equally beside each other, their husbands and any other men. Mormon women know they have the right to try their best each and every day to be spiritual, loving, caring, gorgeous, talented, smart, athletic, generous, kind, thoughtful, peaceful, funny, smart, witty, wise, beautiful, clean and anything else they want and know their Father in Heaven wants them to be. What is being a Mormon like?

I feel so lucky to be a mormon. We have all the knowledge we need to return home to our father in Heaven and all the knowledge we need to have joy on our journey back home. Although some people think Christians have so many rules that it holds them back I know that I am free because of the good choices I have made. there is also a great culture of friendship and looking out for and taking care of one another. You can be assured if you joined the mormon faith that you would be taken care of for the rest of your life. We are taught to love our neighbour and as we all strive to do that we all bless each other's lives. Show more Show less
