Hi I'm Julia

I'm a college athlete. I'm a mechanical engineering student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love track and field, and I am currently throwing the discus and hammer in college. I'm one of the few girls going into mechanical engineering. Watching hockey is one of my favorite things to do. I like to laugh and smile, and my laugh usually makes other people laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me peace and comfort through hard times, and because it is the only thing in my life that has consistently brought me happiness. Every time I am feeling sad or frustrated, all I have to do is pray and read my scriptures and I instantly feel better. I also love having an instant-support-system everywhere I go because there are members of the church all around the world and they're always friendly and helpful. I've faced hard times in my life, but my religion has taught me that I'm never alone and that God wants to help - I just have to ask. Difficult things will happen, but all of them shape me into a better and stronger person. I also love that I will get to be with my family forever through a temple marriage and sealing; nothing and no one makes me happier with my family, and I'm grateful that I will get to spend eternity with them. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in everything that I do. I've learned how to have fun and enjoy life without compromising my standards. We believe in being happy, and I feel the most satisfied when I stay upbeat and get to help other people to be happy. Life was meant to be enjoyed. When I put God first in my life is when I feel the best because I know that having Him on my side means that I have the greatest support system ever. I love the Lord and I know He loves me and wants each and every one of us to be happy.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Julia
The only way you can know Mormonism is true is to find out for yourself. You have to consistently and sincerely pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him if it's true. We are told this in the Bible in James 1:5-6 and in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:4-5. You also have to strive to learn all you can about Mormonism by reading the Book of Mormon consistently, attending church, and listening to the missionaries. You don't have to start off by doing all of this at once, but if you really want to know if this church is true then you will need to learn as much as you can. Study and give thoughtful consideration to all the things you learn from lessons and the scriptures. Another important element of knowing the truth is to listen with your heart; the Holy Ghost gives us inspiration and whispers the truth to us through feelings and thoughts. Along with this, it is important to follow God's commandments so you can feel the Holy Ghost; you cannot feel promptings unless you are living worthily of that influence. It can be hard to tell when the Holy Ghost is speaking to you at first, but if you just remember that the whisperings come as thoughts and feelings of peace, hope, comfort, and/or happiness then it will be easier to recognize. If you have felt any of these things as you have read this then you have already experienced the Holy Ghost telling you of the truth of these words. Show more Show less
