Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon. I gained my testinomy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was prepairing to serve my mission. At that time I learned how to feel the Holy Spirit testify to me. I Prayed to know that what I was doing in my life was the right thing. If I was going to teach people about the Church I needed to know if it was the true Church. I continued to read the Book of Mormon and search for answers. That's is when I recieved a testimony that it was true. I was reading in the book of Alma in the Book of Mormon (Alma 34:31-35). I needed to stop waisting my time and get to work, the Lord needed me to testify of Him. He wanted me to repent and get to work. If I was to wait til latter in my life to do this it would be too late, and I knew that I would never know of the happiness that I know of now. I need to prepare NOW and for the rest of my life if I wanted any chance of meeting God. After that moment I recommited myself to work harder on my mission and to continue for the rest of my life in serving God. I have struggled and fallen down a few times since then, but I continue to repent and get back up and keep going. I have never forgotten that moment and the feelings I felt at that time. I continue to feel those same feelings as I continue in the faith of my Savior and Father in Heaven. I know the Church is true and that the Book of Mormon is true, writen by true prophets who lived on this continent in ancient times. I know that Joseph Smith translated that ancient word by the power of God and was called as a Prophet to testify of it. I know that our Prophet today Thomas S. Monson was called by God to continue to testify of the Book of Mormon and lead us (the children of God) back to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ our Savior. If we LISTEN to him and read the Book of Mormon and FOLLOW those teachings, we will have the opportunity to see Heavenly Father and Jesus again. I say that in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
