Hi I'm Grant

I'm a 2nd Grade Teacher. I'm an amateur freelance writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I got married in 2009. We're still in that blissfully-ignorant phase of life. We are both teachers. I teach a hoard of second graders. It is difficult and enjoyable work. I am something of an artist. I'm not good with visual art, but I have published a few books, written poetry, wrote and produced a musical, and have unprofessionally recorded and album or two. Before becoming a teacher, I got a degree in behavioral psychology. It really helps me professionally and personally.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the best way for me to commune with and understand God. I have dabbled into several different religions and I have really enjoyed my association with them. There several cultural elements from the Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, and Muslim faiths that I wish were more profound in the LDS culture. However, I have found the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I love the doctrines and principles that I have found there. I have found the more I give to the Lord in His church, the closer to God I become. It isn't just about feeling worshipful, or forgiven, or even happy. The Church of Jesus Christ helps me become a better, more Christian person.

How I live my faith

I have several responsibilities in the church. First of all, I am responsible for the care of four different families in my congregation. I am supposed to help them with their physical and spiritual needs. In the LDS Church, congregations or parishes are called "Wards". Several wards combine to make a Stake. I am also responsible for improving the quality of teaching in Sunday School classes in the Stake. Since Sunday School teachers are just normal folks (not a paid clergy), sometimes they need help making Sunday School an uplifting and enjoyable experience for the class. Finally, I oversee two different quorums of adult men. These quorums are groups that have three purposes: to serve each other and others, to teach each other the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to act as a brotherhood of support. I make sure that quorum leaders are being effective at accomplishing these goals. Oh, and sometimes I sing with the choir. :)
