Hi I'm Lise

I grew up as a member of the church in Texas. I love mathematics. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in San Antonio, TX where everyone knew that I was a Mormon. I attended college 1500 miles away from home and it was a place where I have had to decide what I believe and the kind of person I want to be. I graduated in Applied Mathematics and have had the amazing opportunity to teach as an adjunct Math professor. I have been married for a while and am excited for the future. My truest life goal is to be an excellent wife and mother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a home where the gospel of Jesus Christ was present and important. My parents always tried to emphasize following the Lord's will in everything I do and being able to understand how to know what that means for myself. I was an example in high school, my last name even rhymes with "Mormon" so I was known by that at school. I tried to always do what I knew was right and to stand for something amongst many friends who didn't necessarily believe the same things I did. When I came to BYU-I and was surrounded by Mormons, I kinda had to decide if this was what I really believed. I didn't have my parents example in front of me everyday and those around me were trying to figure out what they knew, just like me. I had many experiences that made me question if I really did know that this gospel was true. What helped me the most through those times were remembering the peace and happiness that had come from living the gospel as a child. It is hard to deny evidence you have seen for yourself. I have always found that the more I live the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more I know it is true. If you have a question whether or not something is true, try it!!

How I live my faith

I love being a visiting teacher to my fellow women in the church. It is an opportunity to talk with others about what we believe every month and to just become closer to them. I love attending worship services every week especially because of Sacrament services. It reminds me every week that my Savior loves me and that He died so that I could repent of my sins and that He arose from the dead so that I can have eternal life.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Lise
Joseph Smith was a prophet just like Moses. The Lord needed someone to lead His people in our day. When Joseph was 14 years old he prayed to God to know which church he should join. He then saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, they came to him to tell him that none of the denominations that existed at that time had the complete truth. They chose Joseph to lead the church as many plain and precious truths were restored to the Earth. Joseph was human just like any man but as he faced hardships and hatred because of the work he did, he drew close to the Lord for comfort and was able to bring his will in line with the Lord's will. Because of this he was better able to lead the early members of the church righteously and worthily receive revelation for the entire church, as his calling as Prophet required him to.
