Hi I'm Joy

I'm a Mormon, I grew up in Southern Utah.

About Me

I am a mother and grandmother, I enjoy spending time with my family, that is what makes me the happiest. My other interests are gardening, photography, and writing. A few years ago I decided to go to college but could only attend during my lunch hour and after work. It took me 7 years, but I ended up with two associates degrees. I am now enrolled in an online university hoping to gain a bachelors degree in a couple of years. It is hard work, but it has enriched my life too. I love the out of doors and would rather be outside than inside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormom because I know that this is God's church in it's fullness. I was born into a family who were Mormon, but I developed my own testimony of the truthfulnes of the gospel. My testimony has grown as my prayers were answered, as I have felt the Spirit testify to me of truth, as I have watched others who have kept their testimonies bright, and those who sadly have allowed theirs to become dormant. I have felt and seen the goodness of the Lords love throughout my lifetime and have had reassurance in times when only God knew of my needs. I realize that you don't have to be a Latter Day Saint to have spiritual experiences, but I do know that the fullness of the gospel is here. The saving ordinances are here, the ability and the power to seal families together forever is here, the knowledge of what happens after this life is here, the teachings of the etenal life are here. I grew up in a beautiful place next to a national park. When people asked me why I didn't visit the park very often, I realized that I didn't need to visit somewhere else. Where I lived was just as beautiful and had everything I needed. That is why I am a Mormon, because the Lord has given me everything I need here in this gospel. There is no need to look somewhere else. I know this is God's true Church and Jesus Christ is at the helm, that He calls our prophets through revelation, I know Joseph Smith is also a prophet. This testimony is given to me through the power of the Holy Ghost and it is possible for all those who seek the truth to know it for themseves.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward right now teaching gospel songs to the children in our ward. It has been a wonderful experience for me. I also visit my ward members as a visiting teacher and home teacher. Each ward is supposed to keep a history of important events and I am also assisting with this record keeping.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Joy
I like to take photos and enjoy using my camera. I don't know all about the tool, but I do know there is a lens and a shutter. To take a picture both of those parts are essential, and neither one is able to do the other's work. So it is with the work that God has given to his sons and daughters. No matter how much a man wants to be involved in the excitement of pregnancy and childbirth there are just some things that he will not be able to do . He will find himself looking on when the baby comes in to the world. It is the same when we think of the Priesthood, it isn't a matter of whether a woman might have more compassion than a man, the priesthood is given to men to help them bless the lives of others. There never has been an instance when a priesthood member blesses himself. Men and women have distinct and essential work that needs to be done. Does the shutter ask why it can't be the lens and do the lens' job? And if it could who would do the shutter's job? I do not see any injustice or inequality in the distribution of the work that needs to be done on the earth. When a man enters the temple to receive his endowment, he must be an ordained elder, but when a woman enters the temple for her endowment, she is admitted without an ordination, but by her own virtue alone. I think this shows how Heavenly Father views his daughters. Priesthood and womanhood work together to bless Gods children. Show more Show less
