Hi I'm Chris

I love sports, going to school, playing piano and the ukulele. I joined when I was 17 and I speak Finnish. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently attending BYU-Idaho. I have been here for about 2 years now. I am majoring in Marriage and Family Studies with a cluster in Statistics. I plan on obtaining my masters as well as my PhD. I want to be a marriage and family professor and counsel on the side. I just got married on August 9th to my best friend in the Bountiful, UT temple. It was such an amazing day and the spirit was so strong. I love to play soccer. My teams are Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, USA (of course), Italy, and Barcelona. I currently coach a mens competitive soccer team as well up at school. I love ultimate frisbee as well and any sport really. I love being outdoors and breathing the fresh air. It is WAY better than being cooped up inside! I am a convert to the church since December 1, 2007. I was then able to serve a full-time mission in Finland. I love the people over there and it is such a pretty place. I just love Europe! I hope to go back someday! I love the church and have such a strong testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for us. I know the God lives and loves each and every one of us!

Why I am a Mormon

December 1, 2007 I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. I was a senior in high school at the time; 17 years old. My friends had introduced the gospel to me a bit but I didn't start caring too much about it until I started taking the discussions from the missionaries. I didn't grow up in a religious home. My dad is not an active member of any church. My mom is a member of the LDS church but has been in-active for years and many others in my family are less active. Many people have said that the gospel fills a hole that they never knew was there...its true. It was like being reunited with a long lost friend and now I get to share my whole life with it. I gained a personal testimony of Book of Mormon by the power of the Holy Ghost through prayer. I read the Book of Mormon in a month and was baptized. Everything that has happened to me since then has been a blessing. My whole outlook on life has changed and I can feel the love my Heavenly Father has for me. I feel needed now. I feel like I have a purpose in this life. I now know who Christ is and understand what he did for us. I know that Christ lives. My life will never be the same.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day, one person, one step at a time. I strive to do and say what Christ would do and say if he were here at this time. I try to emulate him in his examples and teachings in my daily interactions with others. I am service oriented throughout the weeks and try to help those in need daily.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Mormon church services are very normal services. Usually it is a 3 hour block. For the first hour we are usually divided up into the Relief Society (women) and the Priesthood (men). In these classes we learn to be better fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, and better followers of Christ. For the next hour we combine for Sunday School. We learn about gospel doctrines that have been around since Christ, new commandments that have been given through modern day revelation, and about previous Prophets of our church. The final meeting is Sacrament meeting. This is when we partake of the bread and the water that symbolizes Christ himself and his sacrifice for us. During this same meeting we then have a few speakers that speak to us about gospel doctrines or principles. Every meeting is so uplifting and inspiring. It is such a friendly environment and everyone is certainly welcomed. I remember when I first joined the church I felt so comfortable going because I knew they weren't looking at me as just another church statistic but rather a true child of our Father in Heaven. If you are ever curious about coming or afraid or hesitant I strongly encourage you to just go! You will love it and make friends that will last a lifetime. You will gain a great understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will feel the Spirit. I promise. Show more Show less
