Hi I'm Bernice

I'm from sunny South Africa,love to travel,love nature,the beach and sea,sport,family and friends,and adventure! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a wonderful, large family of 9, with amazing and diligent parents who truly love the Lord. They serve endlessly and have taught me through example the blessings that come from being of service to others! My lovely husband is a convert to the church, and we have three amazing children who also love the Lord! I love adventure and a few years back my family and I left our wonderful family in South Africa to experience a different culture and life in America. We have loved learning, tasting, experiencing, travelling, studying and working in America. We have met wonderful people and have seen the gospel in action so many ways! I am a teacher and am passionate about children. I love to see them grow and develop their individuality, their spirituality and personality. They inspire me with their honesty, purity, integrity, and cheerful spontaneity. My own children are the light of my life! They too, are my best friends. They teach me, guide me and give me advice. They have developed strong testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am so blessed to be surrounded by their strength and example. My husband and I have been married for 22 years, and have had the privilege to be married and sealed in the Johannesberg Temple in South Africa. He is a great dad and wonderful priesthood holder who warms our family with his love and selfless service. I truly am blessed and I am happy, at peace and look forward to each new day and the adventures each day offers!

Why I am a Mormon

I am very fortunate to have a grandmother who very faithfully investigated and accepted the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She has a wonderfully simple and strong testimony and has passed this legacy on. My mother joined the church as a teenager and met my father through the church, who also joined as a young man. I was born into a happy home where the gospel was and still is lived daily. Through my own personal conversion process, I have felt my Savior's love for me many times and have had my own personal miracles play out in my life. I know that Heavenly Father wants us to return to live with him again one day and that he has provided us with all the means to learn and grow and be able to be successful in this life, to enable us to return to live with Him. The gospel of Jesus Christ follows the teachings of Jesus when He walked the earth, and showed us through example what we need to do. The Book of Mormon is a second witness to the truthfulness of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. I know that the prophets of old and new are inspired and receive direct revelation from out Heavenly Father for the benefit of those who need it. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ and the blessing it is in my life to know that I can correct wrong doings and improve myself each day. I love my whole family dearly and am so grateful for the knowledge that through my worthiness, I can be with them for time and all eternity. This is a great blessing and worth the effort to live my life in the service of others, praying for guidance often, and doing the things that will bring me closer to my Savior. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, I know he hears and answers my prayers, and I know that He wants me to be successful and happy.

How I live my faith

My faith is part of my every day life. As a family we pray together every day before we leave and go our different ways. Our children participate in scripture study at school and university every morning, what a great way to start the day! We have a special day of the week set aside for our family to be together. In this busy society of work, sport, school etc. it is very important to set aside a day that we do not have meetings, sport events etc. but get together to learn, have fun, share each other's company and enjoy being a family. Each day I try to ensure that I leave people better for have been with me, I try to be positive and happy and show through my actions that I am a child of God and truly believe that. At church I am a teacher, and love sharing the gospel with those who want to know, and learn more. I am also a teacher in the community and love my families and children I teach. They are all a great example to me, and I love to learn from them. I love to help in the community wherever needed. Recently we had the privilege of helping the dear people who suffered huge damages and loss of lives with the tornados that came through their towns and cities. This is truly a humbling experience to see the faith of these people, some of whom lost everything. I play on a soccer team and am always making sure that I show good sportsmanship and that I am respectful towards others. My faith is very important to me, and my family and we are very blessed when we make good and righteous choices.
