Hi I'm Donelle

I'm a wife, a photographer, and a soon-to-be nursing student. I raise children, roses, and lizards. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 5 living children, and one angel. My son was stillborn at 30 weeks, and my faith in my Heavenly Father and the knowledge that He knows what He is doing sustained me during that difficult time. I turned a photography hobby into a photography job; my favorite subjects are the 9-18 month old children. My husband and I got married in graduate school, though I was the one to finish my degree. In spite of that, I'm back in school. I am at a local college preparing to apply to nursing school; I will graduate in just enough time to send my children to college and on missions. I teach during the women's class at church, called Relief Society. I enjoy the variety of topics, and I learn more than I share, I believe. I like to garden, but have not had luck where I live now. There are lots of deer around, and they love my tomatoes! I love to eat chocolate, but more than that, I am very partial to my grandmother's cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because its doctrine fit what I knew in my heart all along. The Mormon church emphasizes how much our Heavenly Father loves us, that He is near us and involved in our lives. He sends us the Holy Spirit to help guide us, and comfort us in times of need. I believe that as Adam brought sin and death into the world, our Savior, Jesus Christ, brought life and redemption to all. I know that through my Savior, I learn what I need to do to return to live with my Heavenly Father; Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of what we need to do and the type of person we need to become. I believe the atonement of Jesus Christ works in my life. I cannot undo all that I do that I shouldn't do, but through Him, I am still able to repent and am still capable of returning to live with my Heavenly Father. I know without a doubt that Jesus Christ is the living, loving Son of God, who voluntarily gave up His life so that my sins won't prevent me from reaching my full potential. I believe in being honest, kind, and helpful; these are qualities I admire in my Savior that I would like to emulate. These are qualities I try to instill into my children; it's a work in progress.

How I live my faith

I am quite active at church, teaching in the women's class about the Savior and the teachings of our leaders. We attend church every Sunday, and sing in the choir. It always needs more voices! We have youth night every Wednesday that my children enjoy. I try to be a good example, emulating what I think my Savior would do in any given situation. I am proud to be a Christian, and try to be the best Mormon Christian I can be.
